I've been meaning to cosplay as this guy, and when I looked at the standard cosplays, they just looked wrong... whereas yours is almost better than the actual, and certainly just as good. Any hints, tips, or material sources for a guy trying to make his first cosplay? Also, how did you do the wig? it obviously doesn't come that way, so was it a short, or medium. Oh blargh, the questions just keep flooding.

haha you can never ask too many questions! Believe me I've been doing this for years and I still ask loads of questions with each new costume project. If you're wanting to make a Vash, I'd recommend a nice heavy fabric for the coat. Leather is obviously the most authentic but it's hella pricy. If you can afford it you won't ever have to make a second coat, that's for sure! But affordable alternatives are micro-suede, marble vinyls with a natural leather look to them, or even a woven fabric such as canvas or denim. I'd use vinyl or leather for all of the straps (and always look for pre-made stuff you can alter, such as belts). The wig was initially a longer blonde wig that I purchased from Arda wigs (google them, they're my favorite place to go). I got a separate black wig, took half of it apart, and glued the wefts of hair to a piece of craft foam that I had attached to the back of the blonde wig. The foam holds the shape up so that it saves time styling all of the back hair.

Oh you bastard XD Did you use her technique for making realistic hairlines? I talked to her about that and saw the tutorial. I HATE how spiked wigs tend to show that little bunch from inside the wig

well...I partially did a hairline with some of the spikes glued into place, but I honestly need to go back and work at it a bit more. I think my photographer shopped this pic to make the hairline look a little better than usual

By the way, since you styled it yourself, I want to give you props for making a cool series of thicker spikes grouped together instead of 10x as many small ones like most people do
