Description The Prussian Minister of the Interior, Hermann Göring, wanted to create a special police unit which was completely loyal to the new Nazi regime. The Landespolizeigruppe 'General Göring' was formed on 22 December 1933 as a re-designation of the previous special police group. It is mainly known for taking part in the purge of Ernst Röhm and other enemies of Hitler (mainly top ranking leaders of the SA) during the Night of Long Knives.
When Göring was promoted to command of the Luftwaffe in 1935, he ordered the unit transferred to the Luftwaffe, where it was re-designated 'Regiment General Göring'. It later became the more well known '1st Fallschirm-Panzer Division Hermann Göring' in 1944.

The cuff-title reads 'L.P.G. General Göring' in a Fraktur style font.
