Tears stream down her neck in iron hot rivulets of which the sun would never glimpse. Rainbows were hidden in those tears, and would only be illuminated by that sun. Her mouth curved into itself to form words, but her mouth was moving too fast for me to understand, for I did not-could not- hear her voice. My ears were ringing softly in time with my thoughts as quickly as they raced, and my fingertip-of my index finger-graced her cheek wiping away a lone tear.

‘Why cry?’ I asked her softly mouthing the words of which I had no idea to pronounce. Her eyes filled with more tears while her mouth worked too quickly for me to understand. I touched my finger of which I’m sure tasted of salt to her lips. ‘I love you’ my lips formed the words, but I doubt I truly grasped the concept of what they meant.

I sat down hard beside her and licked away the salt from her skin. Our lips touched briefly…

She leaned into me, as if silently begging for something I knew nothing of…

Then…our heat melted together, and unspoken words were not needed.

My hands caressed her skin cupping a soft curve of flesh that I had never seen…

Mounds of clothing lay crumpled on the floor. I did not notice until my breathing became regulated, and the ringing had subsided. She…Her eyes were closed. Her soft wavy brunette hair, that had unraveled, covered those parts of which I had no name for…

Candlelight danced over her creamy milk-like skin, while a soft ringing accompanied my thoughts.

My finger, of which I’m sure tasted of hot salt, stole the last bit of evidence of unrest and suffering, and wiped it on my breeches. The sun could never create rainbows without tears.
