Description I have a tendency to never finish anything I start. Depression does that, sadly.

But, these days, anything to alleviate boredom works for me. Even if it's a project I never finish.

My free time away from work and school usually has consisted of staring at the computer monitor whilst clicking between a few tabs in my internet browser. At times, it can be overwhelming.

I woke up one morning, and my fire for ZQ was sparking. The onset was probably a result of a friend's quest I was betatesting. Couldn't pass up the opportunity to give in to an urge to do something other than stare at the screen all day.

Picked up from the last thing I was working on. Figured I'd approach quest creation in a different manner; work on whatever I feel like doing at the moment.

Often a motivation-killer for most is that people tend to create their games in progressive order (an overworld section, the first dungeon, more overworld, the second dungeon, so forth)--This has never boded well with me since I began to work on quests beyond "simplistic." I've scrapped several projects.

I want to get the gist of my graphics in order before I start any actual design. Once completed, I'll progress to work on whatever I feel like doing at the moment. My water "dungeon", which is essentially the third "level", has been on my mind as of late. If it stays in my head by the time I'm finished with graphical tweaks, then I'll proceed to create that area first.

I find it much more satisfying to please the urges rather than work on something I don't have the fire for at the moment. Additionally, if you work on something you enjoy, you'll put more effort into it.

----------

Well, about this screenshot.

I think I may have submitted something ridiculously similar in the past. In fact, it may have been this same screen. I don't find it an issue, nor do I feel like checking to confirm.

This is merely the current stage of my graphical progress. I've tweaked the overworld palette several times over, as well as changing my global palettes in general. Not to mention respriting certain items, touching up existing sprites from other ZC tilesets, and what not.

On the bright side of things, I plan to release this tileset to the community once/if I finish my actual quest. If quitting happens to come around instead, the set will still be released, and whatever I have done in the actual quest will be compiled into a demo of sorts.

The ZC version I'm currently utilizing is version 2.50, Alpha 987.

As far as quest details go beyond its graphical aspect, there aren't any at this moment in time. In regards to story, I've nothing in mind aside from a few recurring antagonists, with one that ends up as the big bad. And that Link is not present in Hyrule.

I should also note that Link is an adult in this, and he will not speak. Also planning to tag a female fairy companion along with him. We'll see.

----------

Anyway, that's it. Decided to submit something along the lines of art since I'm in no mood to draw, nor will I be anytime soon.

As many have already said, great tileset! I really like the sliver of grass land in the water at the top and the smaller rocky areas in the water as well. Great depth on the rock wall at the top!

You should put that Vire and that Wizzrobe back in the underworld where they belong! ]:

It's only one of very few test screens for me to observe palettes, items, etc. before I start working.

Don't worry, they won't be there in the original overworld!

It was semi-serious. I find it weird when people put overworld monsters in dungeons or vice-versa, but you can do whatever you like. O;
