Description Walfas have a bad reputation. One reddit user said, and I quote, "God I hate walfas" because it is "overused and lazy". And it's easy to see why. Anyone with a functional web browser can go to walfas website and effortlessly make a shitty comic. I wonder if this has something to do with KirbyM not updating that shit anymore.

The tools of walfas are extremely limited. The scene in the bottom is that Reimu Burger hallway dead end, zoomed in so you can only see one wall. Walls just don't exist in walfas. Now don't get me wrong. With dedication, walfas can create amazing things. Just look at the good animations on youtube. Not the bad ones. But the point is it is too easy to make a bad walfas comic. Just like it is easy to draw a bad drawing with pencil. Doesn't mean pencils sucks, it just mean you suck at drawing. The top panel is chibi style because I don't know how to draw properly. Gave up trying to draw fingers and just copied Ceej's hand props style. Why did ZUN had to add frills to everything and make things complicated? Anyways the top panel took an hour or so, and the bottom took 10 minutes. Just to show how "lazy and overused" can come by. If I spend the same amount of effort on a shitty meme I get more upvotes because memes are totally not lazy and overused.

ZUN made Touhou
made walfas
made create.swf extended

I don't really care for walfas either.  It's way too easy to make something bad and way too hard to make something good.

Walls, though, are extremely easy to make as a custom prop.  A simple background of a floor and wall (with molding) takes about a minute (or less) to create in MS Paint.

Walfas may be limited, but it's simple to get the hang of. There's also a lot more you can do once you've gotten a hold of the basics, and once you realize that some of the platform's best things were made with nothing but dedication and a simple Flash program... it's honestly kind of inspiring. Couple this with a decent free photo editor like GIMP or paint.net, and there's a lot that can be done here.

I agree with you that that's probably why KirbyM quit Walfas.  While the Station Wagon is probably the cream of the crop when it comes to Walfas, there a plenty of examples of Walfas being used to make something bad.  However, by using good composition and other things, a Walfas comic can easily look nice.  That's part of the charm of it, I'd say.

Not so long as it takes to actually draw a comic.  However, a lot of people don't have the skills or time to make a proper comic.  Walfas can allow people with ideas to make comics because of its accessibility.

Agreed. I think the process of a walfas comic is a little bit different than a real comic, only because of custom props and getting the shots right.
But other than that, real and walfas comics are similar

Well, in real comics, there's the actual drawing of the comic that requires skill and effort.  Walfas kinda pales in comparison to o that.  I'm just saying that's it's a good alternative for those that don't have the time or skills.

people can probably use paint.net or a drawing tablet.
People would otherwise scan their comics into their computers.
i use my notebook, and half the time they look like chicken scratch.
(ima note you, i need to say something)

Some may consider it lazy, but don't forget. It still takes time and effort to make even something from Walfas look good.

And let's not consider the many amazing Walfas edits that have been made through the years.
