I actually like RTF, which is a happy medium between TXT and DOC. You get wide acceptance by default readers but you still get formatting. I generally save HTML files as HTML and read them in Word, too.

YES, someone else that likes RTF! Another good one is DOCX as windows 7 and later can read it in wordpad without having to worry about the document getting bloated with the metadata or the words ending up looking like t h i s .
My stance on PDFs is they suck unless you have pics in the file or are COMPLETELY fucking paranoid that someone is going to steal your smut. And I also agree with ghostofthevoid's points below

This is all reasonable advice, except the PDFs. PDFs are terrible to navigate and you can get identical styling from a .doc, .odt or .html without forcing people into an uncomfortable reader.

I am so sick of seeing this stuff it's unreal.
"She was very very pregnant with 100 babies and had huge D cup boobs"

D cups aren't even that big when you're talking about 100 babies.
Mine are freaking KK-cups and they'd still be too small.

People that write this kind of smut have no sense of scale, or how big a baby is in the womb, or how big an actual D-cup is.

With 3, I disagree.  I tried writing like that, but after the second time doing it, I wanted to shoot myself.  It is a better writing style, I agree with that, but I prefer getting to the point. Same with describing rooms and buildings.  I did it once and couldn't ever again.  I guess I'm a better dialogue/script writer than a novelist.

But for number one, I agree SO MUCH!  I had teachers show examples of how not to write from papers submitted by students of that same class.  I've had that lecture so many times.
