Description
Ever wondered where the Hybrid Project was conducted? In a facility, hidden in a forest, yes... But where exactly is the Facility located?Well, wonder no more my friend!
I present to you curious people a map of the region, complete with some complementary information about the other localizations~!

The Facility
Place were the Hybrid Project was conducted. In the past, the whole facility was surrounded by barricades and you had to pass a total of 3 check points before being granted an access to the main building. In an effort to make this place more approachable, Balzak demolished them. Even if most parts of the facility are accessible, the Chapillon still keeps some areas under lock.
[1]
Main building in the facility, it is the bigger and it once was the most important of all the buildings in the facility. The specimens were developed and monitored in the laboratory; all preliminary tests and experiments were conducted in there as well. Now the lobby is accessible to everyone; it is also the place where Balzak established his shop. Hybrids that seek shelter are welcomed to stay on the first floor; all rooms have been cleared and only contain cushions and blankets. To enter any of the upstairs rooms of that the building, you'll need an access code as well as a magnetic card. The only two creatures with the knowledge of the code and who have a magnetic card in their possession are Balzak and Honorine.
Under the laboratory is a basement maybe as big as the laboratory; due to the poor maintenance, the lights flickers on and off without warning. Many avoid it.
[2]
These little buildings were used as living and working space simultaneously by the scientific team. Some shacks were kept pretty tidy but in most of them the tables and beds are half-swamped under paperwork, documents and crumbled papers. You need an access code to open the door. To this day, only one of the many shacks has been opened; Balzak and the other guardians all live inside.
[3]
Failed experiments and incriminating paperwork all met their end in this shady building. The building has been condemned for some time now but rumor has it that smoke still escape from the chimney every once in a while... But that's impossible, right?
[4]
There used to be a time when you could drink the water contained in this reservoir without any uncertainty. Now, even standing in a 10 foot radius from this reservoir for too long is highly recommended against. The liquid is so corrosive that it managed to pierce through the reservoir and flow into the forest. No one bothered to stop the flood and soon enough the contaminated rivulet met a pond. Both the pond and a nearby lake have been contaminated and their ecosystems were forced to evolve to survive. As Balzak continues to clean the Laboratory of all the wastes that have been stored inside, chemicals are still regularly dumped into the reservoir.

The Howling Woods
Thusly named because of the doleful melody the wind produces when it blows strongly through the trees (or is it because of the blood curdling screams some scientists could have sworn they heard coming from the heart of the woods at night?), the Howling Woods are said to be haunted. Balzak believes it is only a story made up by the members of the Hybrid Project to keep nosey people from venturing too far in the woods, keeping the existence of the facility a secret. Even so, one can't possibly ignore the immediate drop in temperature and the abrupt stop of the birds' singing upon entering the woods. It is said that maps and compasses are utterly useless in these woods. The movement of the sun won't help you either: the woods are dense and in some parts it seems like nighttime is permanent.
[5]
The water of this pond is always steaming hot. This phenomenon is likely caused by a reaction between a microorganism present in the water and a combination of the different chemicals drained in the pond by the rivulet. Most of the creatures that live in the Howling Woods avoid this pond but some individuals have been reported travelling miles to get to drink its water. It is unknown if this behavior is caused by sheer curiosity, or because the water here has proprieties outsiders don't know about. No human has tried it before, so its taste is a complete mystery.
[6]
This lake is said to have been bigger in the past, shrinking down to its current size because of the progression of the desert over the woods. It is the least polluted water-spring in the Howling Woods and many creatures go there to drink. The water of this lake is very calm and no creature has been spotted swimming in the water, which earned it the title of Dormant Lake. It is impossible to cross this lake by-boat: to cross the lake rapidly, you can only take the Twin Bridges. Some days at dawn a tiny boat is said to mysteriously appear out of nowhere; people have speculated that it is sailed by a resident of Izzaris but nothing is too sure. Apparently the captain sometimes offers you to sail the Dormant Lake with him for free.
[7]
Sturdy and convenient, the Twin Bridges are high bridges that make the process of crossing the Dormant Lake very easy. Rather than crossing the lake in one go, they both lead to an old Lighthouse stationed on a piece of dry land in the middle of the lake. If you think about it, the main purpose of these high bridges is not to connect one end of the lake to the other but rather to facilitate the access to the Lighthouse.
[8]
Now what's a lighthouse doing in the middle of a lake some of you may ask... Well, that's a mystery! The purpose of this lighthouse in unknowns and those who tried to investigate it were only greeted by a long set of rusty metallic stairs and didn't make it to the top the building, forced to turn back at some point because the structure was too unstable. The whole lighthouse is in a sorry state and going inside is strongly recommended against. Balzak has reasons to believe that the lighthouse was only a facade to disguise at watchtower built by the members of the Hybrid Project to keep the facility's surrounding under surveillance.
[9]
When rumors about the haunting taking place in the woods started spreading, a group of paranormal investigators went into the woods to report the apparitions and hopefully capture evidences on tape. The group got lost in the woods and inadvertently stumbled upon what they were convinced was sacred ground (after all, what purpose could stacked-up rocks have other than serving in a cult or ritual of some sort?). They established camp on the site but were inexplicably found sleeping peacefully near the entrance gate of a nearby village the next morning. When they were interrogated, they couldn't explain their appearance in the village and had no memory of the last night. No matter how many times they tried, or how hard they looked for it, they couldn't find the sacred ground again.

The Smoldering Desert
The Smoldering Desert is a dangerous, scorching, uninviting place that goes on for what seems like forever if you don't know where you're going. Beware of whirlwinds: they are frequent in the area and can harm you as well as disorient you; they shape the landscape around them. Nothing stays the same for long in this place. Contrarily to what you might think, the desert is not a lifeless place. Alright, it doesn't exactly buzz with life either (the many dead trees being a big giveaway), but it's inhabited nonetheless. The few people and creatures living there are incredibly resourceful; a small village even lies near the border of the Howling Woods!
[10]
Izzaris is all about efficiency, even if it is only a few people short of being a ghost town. If for some obscure reason you wish to venture in the desert, you better listen carefully to what the inhabitants have to say: they know all there is to know about the desert and are usually eager to help others getting where they want to. Most of the outsiders here are archeologists heading for the Excavation Site and taking a break from their journey in Izzaris. The inhabitants of this village avoid the Howling Woods like the plague; even mentioning the place is frowned upon. One might wonder why the village was built so close to the woods when people do all they can to ignore the place.
[11]
This incredibly huge tree is perched on the edge of an oasis and cast an enormous shadow. Many wonder how this giant managed to even grow in the desert, yet alone become so big! The major part of this tree's roots dive right into the water while the other part dig deep into the sand to try their best at stabilizing the gigantic tree.
[12]
The water of this oasis is the purest in all of Aberrantheim. It provides for some rare species of flower which have really interesting medicinal proprieties, and who can only be found near the oasis. Creatures from all horizons come in mass to rest near the pure water, yet none has ever been seen diving into the crystalline water. It's probably a good thing too, seeing as the water becomes incredibly deep, incredibly fast. The actual depth of the oasis is unknown: all the probes that have been sent down either didn't came back up or read results so incredible that they very quickly discarded as false readings coming from errors in the probes’ programming.
[13]
Long before the Hybrid Project did even cross the minds of its creators, archeologists took an interest in the region of Aberrantheim. The peculiar environment of the land, as well as the presence of peculiar artifacts stirred the curiosity of the scientific community and excavations have been taking place in the smoldering desert for quite some time now. Despite the archeologists' stubbornness, the climate makes the search for artifacts really difficult and only a few items are actually dug up every years.

The Verdant Valley
By far the least frightening area of Aberrantheim, the Verdant Valley doesn't have the harsh climate of the Smoldering Desert, nor does it feel as oppressing as the Howling Woods...Which makes this area an ideal resting place for many hordes of creatures. The valley is a beautiful place, bubbling with life.
[14]
The last inhabitants of this city died off many centuries ago. The people from this town were a rather secluded bunch and wouldn't let any outsider enter the city (the remaining parts of the great wall surrounding the city is a good example of their paranoia). It is believed that they were struck by a contagious illness and, stubborn as they were, refused any outside help. They never found a cure for it and the population quickly died off. Nature has conquered the remains of this ghost village that inspired many paintings and songs since then. The Dilapidates City is truly a sight to behold.
[15]
Due to the fact that Aberrantheim is slowly losing its inhabitants to more modern areas, this once popular amusement park had to close and is now slowly falling apart. Nobody works here anymore, but if you're brave enough to trespass, you'll find out that most attractions are well conserved (notably the freaky funhouse and house of mirrors). Rumor has it that some of the claw machines still work, and the big wheel next to the Ferris wheel looks strangely familiar, don't you think?

Imperturbable Mountain Chain
Reaching the summit of this mountain is nearly impossible, so much so that climbing onto of this mountain has become one of the greatest challenges for all rock climbing enthusiasts everywhere. This environment doesn't forgive carelessness and you better be prepared if you intend to spend some time in the area. When the freezing wind isn't blowing too strongly, rendering your vision minimal at best, you can actually enjoy the frigid beauty of the frozen landscape.
[16]
Officially abandoned but kept very clean for some strange reason, the cottage is a welcoming change in the scenery. Yet, it is strongly recommended to stay as far as possible from it as something in the cottage tempers with magnetic instruments. Many say that when you spend too much time near the cottage, you will experience symptoms such as anxiety and nausea, insomnia and headaches, as well as an uncontrollable thirst that will drive you to dive right into the lake.
[17]
The water here is pure and has the propriety to satiate even the strongest of thirst with a little gulp. Never too cold, never too hot, this lake is constantly at a perfect temperature, like an invitation. Those who took a dive in the lake and stayed too long reported that, after a while, the temperature of the lake dropped, like something was telling them they were overstaying their welcome. Right before the water turned dark, they fled, returning to the safety of the bank. Later they discovered numerous scratches covering their arms and backs. They weren't painful or anything, but they looked strangely like claw marks.
[18]
Shortly after the opening of the Facility, it was decided that another facility would have to be built but this time, it would have to be hidden from the public eye. In the unoriginally named Underground Facility, the more dangerous experiments were to be conducted. When you see what sort of experiments took place in the main Facility, you have to wonder what exactly was considered "more" dangerous than that.
