Description
A Happy EndingThe air is chilly, brushing by with gentle strokes. It is salty, in both smell and taste, a hint of green tea tints the calm breeze. It wafts with the smooth flow of the steam trailing from two mugs. The sky was a grand mixture of oranges, violets, and dark blues. The Sun was setting. Slowly allowing itself to be engulfed by the rising darkness of the sea.
The two sat atop the lighthouse, at the very center of a small green island, lying off the very horizon of a massive glowing city in the distance. The ocean released tired waves that crashed onto the shore with placid resolve.
They were wrapped in a long blanket, the only barrier afforded to them to battle the gentle kiss of cold. They slowly pulled mugs to their mouths, indulging the flavors of their warm drinks. Their feat gently swung over the edge of the gated catwalk that ringed around the lighthouse’s upper echelon. Mimi nuzzled her head into her right arm which rested on the lower bar, it was the arm closest to Azure who set directly next to her.(edited)
They were wrapped up in both the blanket and their very own calm silence.
They sat on the edge, onlooking witnesses to the slow death of the sun’s light.
Below them among two large tree’s, sat a silently snoring, smiling Groggy. He sat with a straw hat over his face, relaxing after a long day of work tending to his small garden. He was slightly dirtied up, but none the less content from a hard day’s work.
The lights of the lower parts of the lighthouse began to turn on, one by one. The denizens within getting ready for evening activities and other philanthropy on this slow day.
Mimi and Azure said not a word, but even without a word, a conversation steadily continued between them. An appreciation for each other’s company, the warmth that the gingerly shared, the silence that they both shared together, only broken by the occasional small sip of hot beverage.
With another sip, Mimi shifted, scooting closer to Azure, leaning her head against his arm. A smiled crept across her lips and she closed her eyes.
Azure took a moment, shifted to look at her. He blushed slightly, but reached up and reached for his sunglasses, taking them off. His eyes were already closed. He slowly shifted getting a bit closer to Mimi himself, before then releasing a heavy sigh, releasing any remaining burdens he may have had.
And they didn’t move for that spot for some time, letting the moment take over and gently hold onto them.
It was truly, a happy ending.
