That poured down warm
We pulled our raincoats tight around
Even though later
They would tell us
That the raincoats were coming
But by then
It found its way through
We were soaked through
But still we waited for the vampires
And the sunset
We spoke out our California language
And thought of dryer days
Every one grieved the rain
But the vampires
Who sang as loud as the hills would allow
Until the sun drifted down
And we ducked inside to shake our
Raincoats out
