I am breathing butbarely and i cant control
my teary eyes and tired sighs
(how long must this go on)
something brings us back
again and again
and we keep falling all over each other
crashing like the waves i saw on the jersey coast
(i wrote your name in the sand but the sea
washed it away)
i saw your face on every billboard and heard your
name sung in every broadway play
the traffic lights kept changing(cars kept complaining)
but your voice in my head remained the same
i went 3,000 miles away and still could not shake you out
of my system so
i wandered in the rain all day (stood in times square at night and
imagined us meeting for the first time)
and listened to the sad songs playing on a loop in
my head
i have only just stopped flinching at your name
and i still can't get over how perfect this was going to be
(we'll never get to live it)

wow..... I didn't go to New York, but this really reminds me of something I just went through, especially the part about flinching everytime you hear their name. I do that still, and when I hear his voice.

the 3000 miles thing caught my eye, and I thought it was pretty funny how often the long-distance as isolation metaphor is used so often in modern poetry in a time when travelling 3000 miles takes no more effort than a bus ticket.
..also, "we keeping falling all over each other" is gramatically incorrect.
