Looks great! Especially for your first time using an alpha-channel (transparent) background.
Something you can do to avoid those awkward white specks from showing through is making a layer underneath the main layer, and just tracing around it with the color that should be there so that those awkward alpha-channel spots disappear. Just a tip!
