Description
Trying to actually get myself drawing again, starting by actually finishing up some REALLY old stuff (this is a year old, at least). Hnng, better this than nothing I guess. Also part of the sort-of-but-not-really '2016 art goals' to draw more of the OCs that don't have a (anti-social) chip on their shoulder the size of a double-decker bus. So here's these two, Rain and Vika, who actually got together because they decied to humour a mutual friend's (Jade's) matchmaking schemes.
Probably one of the couples I've sort of had a slightly more developed backstory and idea, though with a lot less drama and 'don't you get shot' situations. Hilariously, I've NEVER drawn them together before (till now), in fact someone else drew it first. So, you should check out InkyRose 's amazing piece .

This is really nice. I like the background work and their designs.

D'aw, this is adorable, and I like how warm and sort of fleeting the background is!
And I know what you mean, sometimes it feels like we're drawing two different worlds - one with all the gritty stuff going on and the other with all the mushy stuff. It's really one big world with EVERYTHING but the switch is jarring for me every time.

Thank you~ I can now celebrate I can do 'adorable' that doesn't have morbid undertones (which I've yet to do).
it's only fleeting because I gave up developing it beyond vague shapes of stuff
It is jarring, I totally agree with you. Though to be fair I'm more comfortable drawing the gritty stuff, unadulterated mush often makes me question how far before the 'cliche-meter' rings. But when you think about it, it is quite the reflection of how life is, many aspects of it do coexist

Aww well they look like they're enjoying their time together, I like what you did with Vika's hair and that semi-ombre, they're just two average people enjoying an average walk...or are they? dun dun daaaa! That railing in the background though *slobbers over it* i love the autumny colours of the street, especially the trees and that brilliant background angle *slobbers on the pavement too* I am also really impressed that you made the trees at natural and different angles, not like...straight lampposts (I would have totally done that!)

I don't know why, I love the gradient of ombre hairstyles...well when it's well done. Then again, eye-catching dye jobs are really fun to look at. I actually once had a classmate who changed hair colours every term.
Nah, they're totally average and do not do questionably legal/criminal things on a daily basis. Well, as 'average' as a concert pianist and business heir can go. I actually have 'normal' people, and it's about time they have a spot in the limelight too
Thanks! But don't slobber on the railing (or the pavement for that matter), who knows what's been on it. I was quite glad the trees worked out, those patterned/texture brushes did wonders with that. Kinda wishful thinking autumn here looks more like that and not a sweltering heatwave.
Don't diss straight trees. I think it depends with what you want to go with, with the right setting, I'm sure they could look very effective

Yeah when it's done right it looks nice, otherwise it's kind of awful. Aw at my school no one was allowed to dye their hair unusual colours, though at college I had a friend who kept dying her Mohawk various shades
Lol yeaaahhh i imagine being a business heir has its...thrilling moments, and those concerts can be intense.
*wipes the railing and pavement* a little bit of dirt never hurt anyone, though it probably has that 'urban smell' of metallic smoke, kind of like a mixture of rust and bus-fumes.
Yeah we get no autumn either!
If it was an immaculate boulevard they'd probably have straight trees!

Oh wowser! This must have taken you agggggggggggggggesss to draw- look at all that fantastic detail! I love the brickwork and signage in particular behind them. I also like how natural and affectionate their pose is- like you can tell they're still in love after being together for a long time and I also really like the ombre effect on Vika's hair, it looks really pretty.
Wonderful work as always hon- you just go from strength to strength!

Thank you~ Well, undeniably it took ages because I was faffing around instead of ACTUALLY getting it done.
I was quite happy with the background, oddly enough the less defined details somehow worked with the perspective I think cause you'd be focusing on the people, hurr. Yeah, glad the ombre worked out (which pretty much meant a hairdo change since the last I drew her), I don't know why, but I really like the idea of that sort of style.

Great and realistic drawing of a everyday situation. I like the perspective drawing and the colors that indicates early autumn.
