Description Inspired by Astor Piazolla's 'Soledad' (cause I do listen to things other than obscure rock and heavy metal).

Done with 's prompt "darkest moment" in mind. I mean it would've been easy to go with near death experiences or the effect of someone's death (the hitmen have those in spades to the point it's not even funny), but why not something on the emotional side. So I chose Tony instead.

He did hit a considerably rough patch when his first marriage went to hell. Even with the monster of a settlement he put (and won) against her, it didn't do much to the pain of knowing that the two years wasn't even sincere. So, he dropped out of contact (which his sister wasn't very happy about) and had a good couple of months of feeling like shit. Though things eventually looked up for him, he got a new start, with a (not so legal) job, new team and new family (daughter included). Safe to say he was an exception to the 'family curse'.

I'm almost done with literally a week with a conga line of assignments. Had to get this done and over with before the deadline, now onto the other stuff

Gosh.... That backstory..... Did it take you a while to think of the backstory or was it not too hard?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ExplosiveCoffee In reply to Etrenelle [2015-05-10 04:30:10 +0000 UTC]

Well, he's had this backstory before this came about, I have this tendency of working on OCs but have little pictures to go with it. But getting there did take a while, cause some backstories (for me those that a relatively average person could go through) don't come up as easily as some

Etrenelle In reply to ExplosiveCoffee [2015-05-10 06:18:37 +0000 UTC]

Ah I see~ No being a writer and an RPer sometimes it takes me forever to find the right backstory for a character but other times it clicks really easily

ExplosiveCoffee In reply to Etrenelle [2015-05-10 10:03:34 +0000 UTC]

I know! Some things will come like months (or even years) after you need it

*nods head* Sometimes it just pops in your head and your like "OMG WHERE WERE YOU WHEN I NEEDED IT~!?" *clears throat* sorry about that shout ^///^;;

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ExplosiveCoffee In reply to Etrenelle [2015-05-11 02:47:15 +0000 UTC]

Exactly that! Though sometimes it depends on how interested you are in that character/rp. No worries, you're not the only one who gets shout-y every now and then

Etrenelle In reply to ExplosiveCoffee [2015-05-11 04:00:25 +0000 UTC]

True that true that~

I have to be honest and say that I find myself trying to make really nice characters for RPs that I really like... Haha, I tend to take longer on those characters cause I feel like I need to make the perfect character for them ;

ExplosiveCoffee In reply to lydia-san [2015-05-06 04:45:41 +0000 UTC]

Well I'm glad you interpreted it that way. I mean it's not exactly a good feeling when talking about the subject, but still .

lydia-san In reply to ExplosiveCoffee [2015-05-06 09:30:44 +0000 UTC]

lol why does it have to be a good feeling? I mean, this piece gives certain strong feelings, and I guess that's what art is, and expression, doesn't matter whether it's the happy or sad expression. And only a good artist can put so much soul and expression to the artwork

ExplosiveCoffee In reply to lydia-san [2015-05-06 10:29:34 +0000 UTC]

Nah, it's just me not making sense, lol. What I'm saying that, it's a good thing (like you said) to be able to show these emotions whether happy/sad/etc, but it's just that in real life to experience these sort of emotional hardships can be quite a challenge to some.

This is absolutely amazing!  You really did such a fantastic job with the angle and lighting, you managed to convey the sense of "everything going wrong at once" and I feel really bad for him
I love how you added the unanswered phone there, such a brilliant touch!

ExplosiveCoffee In reply to Sleyf [2015-05-02 12:30:11 +0000 UTC]

Aw, thanks. The poor guy indeed, the guy needs a break every now and then. Though since then the sort of reasons why he need a break is being around insanity, not heartache. Getting that sort of mood was a bit of a challenge, especially without bordering into melodrama and cheesiness. But glad it turned out alright

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sleyf In reply to ExplosiveCoffee [2015-05-02 18:00:21 +0000 UTC]

Well insanity is kind of better than heartache, at least with insanity he knows the problem isn't with him. I'm curious about how you could get melodrama into a picture *pictures him flopped melodramatically* hmmm...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ExplosiveCoffee In reply to Sleyf [2015-05-03 01:10:19 +0000 UTC]

Lol, it's a great sign, knowing you're the only normal one

I have no idea how to do that, that'd probably make more sense in writing or in some sort of film media. Cause flopping melodramatically only makes me think of minor back pains in the future and teenage angst, lol

Sleyf In reply to ExplosiveCoffee [2015-05-03 05:55:33 +0000 UTC]

Me course everyone else could be sane and he could be crazy

Lol I imagine those dramatic paintings of women flopped on couches half dying of over dramatic grief. Yeah somehow I don't think he'd do that...

Oly-RRR [2015-05-02 02:14:47 +0000 UTC]

Poor Tony. So I take it he didn't expect it? I never broke up with someone like that but I've lost a few friends, and that period of realisation that someone close and reliable and amazing became a stranger in half an hour is a bad place. it's possible to get through it but... poor Tony.

What's that 'family curse' you're talking about?

And I've been wanting to do something for the prompt but first I had work, and then I haven't been feeling that well lately so I guess it'll have to sit on a back burner past the official deadline. ...it's today innit?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ExplosiveCoffee In reply to Oly-RRR [2015-05-02 06:32:21 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, he definitely didn't see it coming. And that's the worst way of finding anything out, it's like a sudden slap to the face. I mean, I don't know much about breakups either, but I can relate to those friendship fallouts. It's just horrible and the rest of the time you're the one wondering where the hell did it go wrong.

The family curse being that his family's got a questionable history of marriages. It either ends in divorces or that odd limbo where they continuously question why they're still together. Though compared to most, at least he didn't go through as much heartache as his sister, Rena's bombed several engagements and is also divorced.

Well it's one of those cases where work does take precedence (as much as it can be a pain). Are you sick again though? Do get better soon if you are. But yeah, I think it's due today, UNLESS someone requested for an extension like last time

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Oly-RRR In reply to ExplosiveCoffee [2015-05-04 03:27:15 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, totally. I think sometimes people just don't click but it takes some time learning that and adjusting afterwards. And ooh, I see about the family curse now! I think these things get worse as they progress too, someone who goes through several breakups becomes more afraid of rejection and might push people away without actual need (or on contrary, become clingy).

And meh, this time it's mental stuff striking again, the last few days sucked (no need to worry though, better now I guess).

ExplosiveCoffee In reply to Oly-RRR [2015-05-04 08:17:14 +0000 UTC]

Definitely so, it's one of those things that shows itself in unexpected ways. That explanation does a good job of summing up a lot of the many 'successful' relationships going on amongst the OCs I've got, unfortunately. It really gets you thinking on that.

Ah alright then. Glad to hear things are improving for you

InkyRose [2015-04-30 23:34:56 +0000 UTC]

Oh wow- this is brilliant- you can really feel the anguish and emotion here, enhanced by the economic use of light and the enhanced gloom, silhouetting Tony and hiding his features from the viewer, showing that grief is a very private and intense experience. I love all the little details- especially the icons on the cardboard boxes- they're a clever touch!

ExplosiveCoffee In reply to InkyRose [2015-05-01 07:40:26 +0000 UTC]

Thank you~ I haven't dabbled much in those mood-lighting sort of pieces (especially around the blue shades), and the prompt seemed a perfect opportunity to try it. Think it did turn out alright if you've managed to interpret it that way.

Haha, I've always enjoyed putting obscure details, I get disproportionately happy when it gets pointed out
