Description
'Pedantic' isn't enough to describe Tony. When around poorly prepared food and other culinary related disasters, he channels his inner, multilingual Gordon Ramsay and tears people a metaphorical new one. It's just unfortunate he doesn't know how to detect or know when to shut up around those who can't take a critique. The worst actually could've ended in bodily harm (aka 'Switzerland'), he should consider himself lucky that Dante was there to bail him out of it…at the cost of bringing up old butcher-induced phobias. But at least 'bodyguard' is one of the more positive qualifications he has.
This was inspired by some movie(?), I'm not sure what it was, but I saw some gifs on tumblr and found it hilarious and ran with it. Also, lazy backgrounds again

Thanks! I'm really happy to hear that, at first I just thought the snark (and other attempts at comedy) was just me being amused at my own inside jokes.
That entire list in the commercial made my head spin. This isn't being trendy, it's being confusing. But, I did do some digging since then and found it came from the movie 'Role Models' .

Well, I'm a snarly jerk myself, so maybe I'm not the best judge, but I really enjoy how your characters annoy one another.
I might need to watch that movie at some point.

lol and this is why I order in ounces "yeah i'll have the 16 ounce. thank you" because i have no idea what you would call it! i remember ordering a medium soda at a place, and it was like... the size of an extra large.... drink sizes are a pain.
and this tony fellow is an even bigger pain

You're probably the first I know that order in ounces. To me that's impressive cause I know nothing about estimating or knowing sizes of virtually anything (that's sad I know). But drink sizes are horrible! Like clothes, there needs to be a universal size system. I knew someone who ordered a large coffee and it was so big that he split it into 2 full cups.
Lol, he is a pain. His team hesitates little in telling him that. It takes skill or experience to put up with him for prolonged periods of time.

OH. Okay, ignore everything I just said, lol.
Well Dante (the poor guy with him) is half deaf, and he uses it to his advantage whenever possible

Smarticles made me think of smarties that could actually boost IQ or something. But don't fret there's always other things to know, aside from measurements of quantity (which I believe is overrated sometimes)
Lol, he sure wishes so sometimes, but if it ever did, he'd have to retire early.

Doing nothing too long will make you stir crazy, but if you spent over a decade getting shot at, maybe that's a good thing

Oh my goodness, chillax, the poor woman is only doing her job XD I'd be like "I didn't name the sizes..." *takes the fifty*, I bet he's the customer from hell, employees run when they see him coming "oh no it's him!", I also bet it must be awkward with contact embarassment and all, like when people get picky with waiters and cause a fuss over nothing, and you're sat there cringing into the chair pretending not to know them
I would have sent him in to get the coffee alone...
I don't drink coffee, but when I've been in starbucks...I also assumed a Grande was a large...it's kind of misleading!
Although if she told me "don't you mean a venti?" I'd probably be like "what? The big one!"
whatever happened to normal sizes like small, medium, and large?

ExplosiveCoffee In reply to Sleyf [2015-05-17 00:13:27 +0000 UTC]
Exactly, the poor thing, that'd probably the weirdest customer issue she'd face, but probably better than a violent/abusive sort. He can be the customer from hell, though he barks more than he bites. So it'll never escalate beyond several hours of complaints. But because of Tony there are people who suddenly get massive tips for their trouble.
It's sad that neither these two could be sent in alone. Tony would be nagging more and Dante would probably get distracted by some woman in there.
Well I did have a Starbucks phase, for about a couple of months, but then I got wiser (and thought the coffee was too acidic for my taste) and started making my own. It's cheaper and you'll never have an issue like this again. I don't know about the normal sizes. Like a lot of things, there's no universal system, which could've made things so much easier.

Well in a way, a guy calling you an idiot is abusive *cries under the counter* lol, but I do feel bad for anyone dealing with people, they always have to remember that "the customer is always right" so basically he is right.
This should have been an answer for your "where do you fall on the jerk-scale" *scale explodes*, but on the bright side, he's educating people...so I suppose he's doing charity lol
Oh my god imagine waiting for like, an hour for Dante to emerge and find he's been sat there chatting up ladies all that time *roars and flips the table over*
Exactly, it's so over-priced too (I used to get the mango smoothie thing) but really I don't see what the huge fuss about their drinks is (although I don't drink coffee so I don't know, they could be amazing and I'm missing out - but I doubt it!)
Yes, someone should sit down and make all sizes universal even shoes and clothes!

True true. It gets mildly frustrating that some people purposely do that and harass employees. I've read enough of those employer horror stories, and man some of those people are unreasonable as they are stupid.
He can focus (and remain still) for hours on a job, but hopeless the minute it's done. And yet he wonders why are those who want him dead normally send women.
Well things do become absurdly overpriced when you think about it. Lol, you're not missing anything, don't you worry.

Yeah those people need to get a better hobby, or have someone do it to them. I mean we all get frustrated I know, but making someone else's life hell over it is kind of mean they know his weakness far too well but obviously never good enough
Food especially

This is perfect! I haven't seen the movie but I'm pretty sure there were multiple jokes along the same lines (I remember a skit from John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme) and I'm still amused every time! And I always say "large" too, what is it with every food joint inventing snack names that make ordering similar to using a secret code.
I'm not sure panels in bubbles 1 and 4 read in the right order but overall this looks great, especially their expressions!

Well luckily enough where I'm studying still uses 'small-medium-large' systems, because there's near zero cafe-chains. I don't understand the weird names, maybe they want to stand out? But sometimes I don't know what's worse, the gourmet kind (I mean seriously does the name need at least one not-English name in there) or those cafe kinds trying to sound as hipster-y as possible.
I'll actually check on that. But thanks! I seriously had fun with that.

I think anyone understands 'small-medium-large' but sometimes it's the policy of staff to use only their terms in their speech. But yeah, gosh... Gourmet sort of places just make me unnerved (never been there much) but hipster-y places are not much better.

ExplosiveCoffee In reply to Oly-RRR [2015-05-17 07:04:55 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, forgot to specify as that insistence to use them gets irritating, oops. Sometimes you feel bad cause I don't think these people would care either but are expected to do so anyway.
True with the gourmet. At least the latter won't have staff looking down at you for not knowing the sub-species name of one particular truffle or something.

Yeah, totally... It's like one local food joint has this policy of using old-fashioned sort of greetings and such and I bet it's very awkward for people who start working there. Oh come on, I'm here to eat, I don't care how I'm addressed as long as it's reasonably polite and people at the counter have enough work without having to use ridiculous unnatural phrases.

I do agree, even worse when there are some of their customers who act worse than that. Luckily enough they're the only ones who give funny sizes, imagine if all the shops followed after them

As frustrating as it can be for convenience's sake, I would totally go to a place that sells food with that. But then I'd probably can't order anything with a straight face.
