Description
I messed up on the Doctor's face a bit here. That's the trouble when the panels are too small, things get a bit fiddly for my drawing fingers, but I digress...This is from the 5th Doctor radio play Loups-Garoux, one of my very favourites. It features the Doctor and Turlough heading to Rio de Janeiro in 2080 only to get caught up with the problems of a pack of werewolves.
Up above is a scene from episode 3 which comes after Turlough, being made to confront his dark-side in a "game" two of the werewolves have with him, throws himself off the train that they were all currently on.
When the train comes to a stop, the Doctor attempts to drive off in a hover car only to be stopped by Anton who sees him as a rival for Ileana's, the pack leader's, affections.
I've placed the original audio for this scene over these panels for a clip on YouTube so people can hear the cool effect used for the voice of a werewolf although, whoops, the Doctor can clearly be heard LEAVING the hover car at the start. I had forgotten that...
P.S: Isn't Loups-Garoux a lovely word for werewolf? Try saying it out loud: Loooooo-Gah-roooooo......

Isn't Loups French for wolf, and Garoux the onamotopoeia for howling? Because Garoh was the name of the werewolf town in Golden Sun, and they would go "Garooooh!" in their speech bubbles, and
sorry nerd moment. Anyway, I GOTS TO HEAR THIS DRAMA!

Yeah, that sounds most likely as to where the writer thought of the name Loups-Garoux. Either way it is still an original cool term for werewolf. Loooo-gah-rooooo!!!!
You'll be howling this by the end of the play!

Brilliant work.
Makes me want to grab it off the shelf and give it another listen.
My overriding memory of it is Turlough complaining about the sandwich or whatever it is and feeding it to a dog. (Yeah kinda odd memory to have of it)

It's the little things that stick in your mind, isn't it? Never mind the werewolves, what about Turlough's disgusting burger?!
I know I look at Zagreus and immediately think of the Doctor chopping down trees without an axe or The One Doctor with the Jelloid complaining about missing the delivery of his home entertainment system! Who can remember all the other stuff that happens!

Oh, it is! Loups-Garoux has a real tragic beauty to it featuring the monsters of old struggling to evolve on a rapidly changing Earth.
