Description
Adapted from Delimeful's Sanders Sides fanfic, "The Shapes in the Silence", a fic set before the episode "Accepting Anxiety" that offers a spin on the whole "Anxiety ducking out" situation.
Virgil wakes one day to find himself turned into a tiny purple dragon, is swiftly adopted by the other Sides (who remain oblivious to the true identity of their new "pet") and from there... things get complicated.

When I first started reading this fic, I thought, "Hey, this is pretty cute and funny with some great g/t imagery but isn't the title a bit overly-dramatic for such a quirky, light-hearted story?"
And then I reached chapters 11 and 12 and I was all, "Oh! Oh, Virgil, no! No! Oh, God!"
And sure enough, everyone else was screaming in shock too in the comments so, yeah, it's one of THOSE fanfics! Starts off light and fluffy and then takes a sudden but still REALLY well-written turn into angst that leaves you on tenterhooks and... overwhelmed with the feeling that you (I) had to create a LOT of fanart for!
I HIGHLY recommend this one (Delimeful has a great way with words that are so poetically descriptive! There are many parts to this story that I can't stop thinking about!) and it can be read here: www.archiveofourown.org/works/…

Extra Note: To clear up some confusion as to what is going on above, as the fic progresses Virgil learns how to control his condition and switch back and forth between his human and dragon form but then the other Sides start becoming affected too... at least at the "being tiny" part!
