Description
My sixth (and in my opinion) most successful piece of work yet.Painted in CS4 with trust 7300.
I used no reference for this painting, which took about 6 hours.
Please note that I added a bit of extra ambient lighting to the picture to bring it out a little more, If I was going for hyper-realism it would be darker.
Hope you enjoy my piece, more coming soon so make sure to watch me please

Gorgeous work. I love the contrast between the green cave and the magma. Very atmospheric

My, my, I see great lighting consistency. I have to applaud you on your mastery of this aspect.
The background really is very impressive, I don't that even I could muster so much creativity.
Overall your coloring is near flawless, yet you need some guidance on anatomy. The pose itself is very asserting, but the anatomy is wrong. I'm sure practice will make you perfect on this area soon enough. I love the design of this character, is is very unique.

OMG THIS IS INCREDIBLE, I THOUGHT I WAS LOOKING AT VIDEO-GAME CONCEPT ART Things I Love
The color scheme, you have a GREAT eye for color, the contrast is just right.
The use of lighting, you have it PERFECTLLY, with the lava!
The background, it's well detailed, (but not too much,) just enough to set the mood, it's fantastic!
The eery feeling of the picture, I am sure that was your intention, I feel it very strongly, it is fantastic!
Suggestions The anatomy could use a touch of work, such as the arms and thighs, but it's not very noticable due to the great coloring you have done here.
The wings. I thought they were open till I read other comments. I would suggest drawing them closer to the body if you meant for them to be closed. (I was thinking the same thing about them not flying too, so maybe it would be a suggestion worth considering.
) Think of them like bird wings, when not in flight, bird keep their wings tucked to their sides, they only have their wings spread wide like that when they are getting ready to take off and the are nice and open.
Overall This is a incredible piece, you did a fantastic job on it, and as I said at first, the first thing I thought was this was from a video game, it is amazing! Great job!

the painting isn't too bad but you should study figure more. buy yourself some figure drawing and anatomy books. And get that down first, THEN start painting I prefer painting myself and don't really have the patience for line drawing and stuff but sometimes you just have to force yourself, you know?
Also if you can find something on character/creature design, cos i'm sure those wings wouldn't fly
good luck

Cheers. I know I messed the hands/forearms up a little bit.
I might start using more references when painting in the future.
And the wings are folded up

Do it! start using them also do studies of a figure, then after you're done do your personal thing!
AAAH I see! that makes a bit more sense now yes.

Thank you for your submission to ZealZone. All I can say is WOW! Great use of color, good detail (but not too much), the ambient lighting is great. I would have to agree that this is your most successful piece yet. I also put myself on time limits. i find that deadlines and pressure make you work harder and better. Let's see more1

This has a really great composition! The Deamon looks great and I love that "muscle-style" on his skin. What I don't like that much are the rocks above (behind) him. They have a lack of detail and I prefer works that are detailed EVERYWHERE.
Other than that it looks really wonderful.

Thanks for the comment. I am in two minds about the rocks myself, I love going crazy with detail but I decided to try and stay disciplined with this piece and set myself a time target. That meant the Deamon has a lot of detail and the environment less so as I got pushed for time. I guess it will teach me to get a bit faster.
My next painting which is 30% done is a semi-similar theme and will be much more detailed

I don't like when I have to hurry with artworks so I usually don't set me time targets. But it seems that you've had your reasons.
And that about the next painting sounds really cool. I hope for you that it's gonna be a really epic work!
