Don't forget the "soccer" moment in Final Wars...with that said...being under Alien Control is one thing...submitting to King Ghidorah and being his biotch is another.Β At least, when he went down again Godzilla and Mothra, he became a worthy ally like giving them a lift...Rodan even took care of Junior and along with Anguirus and King Seesar made up the trio of lovable losers.Β You knew Rodan would lose, but he would try hard.Β He even sacrificed himself to save Godzilla against Super Mechagodzilla.
I wanted a 3 on 1 battle just to signify Godzilla, Rodan and Mothra's friendship...at the same time demonstrate King Ghidorah as an invading powerhouse.Β The 2 on 2 battle felt off.

Mothra has been popular among women and children for a few decades.Β Her comparison is on par with Gamera.Β The benevolent goddess even competed with Gamera during the Heisei Era after Godzilla temporarily retired in 1995.Β The fact that Mothra was popular enough to spin-off her own franchise from Godzilla is the main reason why she's #2 daikaiju...
Actually...there is not much of a placement among Toho's Big 5, but based off of how many people explained it...this is how they ranked the Big 5.
1. Godzilla:Β He's essentially the face of Toho and the poster boy for the Daikaiju Eiga sub genre as a whole.
2. King Ghidorah:Β The greatest heel kaiju in history.Β He's the Ric Flair of kaiju more or less.Β GMK 1000 Year Dragon Ghidorah did piss people off though.
3. Mothra:Β 3rd monster created by Toho; appeals to all demographics; only kaiju to have a spin-off franchise.Β Negative is the tendency to die...a lot.
4. Rodan:Β 2nd monster created by Toho; responsible for Ishiro Honda coining the quote:Β "Monsters are born too tall, too strong, too heavyβthat is their tragedy"; Along with Mothra, first set of monster allies.Β First depiction of non related kaiju species interacting in a symbiotic way.Β When spoken of greatest Godzilla ally, Rodan is brought up more than Mothra.
5. Mechagodzilla:Β Overall, badassery.Β Inspired many mecha designs in tokusatsu and anime to this very day.

Well, keep in mind that even the younger generations know about the all the Godzilla eras though either their grandparents or parents.Β In the theatre, some kids were surprised that Rodan was acting like the way he was. Β
"Isn't Rodan a friend of Godzilla and Mothra?"
"Why is Rodan fighting Mothra?Β Aren't they friends?"
"No, Rodan.Β Why are you helping Ghidorah?!!!"
"Ghidorah is your enemy, Rodan!!!"
...essentially, many reactions to Rodan were similar to the reactions of Ghidorah in GMK because the audience were already used to the characters history.Β Not saying its a bad thing, I know creators want to go against the grain.Β Heck, the reaction to Shin Godzilla having forms like Hedorah and Destroyah, not to mention having a laser beam, laser spines, and laser tail is similar.

I didn't mind the movie; as long as the spirit of the Tohoverse was there, no complaints.Β Yeah, it's disappointing I didn't get to see Neutral Ally Rodan; but having an air battle between Mothra (Adult Form) and Rodan was cool.Β Don't appreciate the Starscream fan comparison though cause yeah, Rodan is a bitch, but NOT that much of a bitch@$$.Β LOL

I get it.Β Essentially, it was a play off of Invasion of the Astro Monster/Monster Zero, Destroy All Monsters, Terror of Mechagodzilla, and Final Wars.
Another thing I found funny...the Eco Terrorist were essentially aiding the Evasive Species...thus putting Earth in danger.Β Not to mention the Army using the Oxygen Destoryer, which only harmed Godzilla and probably powered up King Ghidorah even more.
