Just had a craving to draw a woman who's trapped between guilt, pleasure, greed and pain, stuffing her face and unable to stop eating at a deliciously rich buffet. And as I drew a story started to form. Wanting to stop, but wanting more to keep going, prisoner of her own appetite, and willingly indulging in her greed, she continues to eat, growing heavier and wider every time.
It hardly shook her out of her food crazed stupor to notice that shed outgrown her seat and needed to start sitting in two, she kept coming. The greater and greater difficulty of getting down here every day doesn't matter, this is something she can't give up. This preposterously cheap, delicious, overblown buffet.
She'd heard of it first from a friend of her's from work, back when she could work, Her friend knew how much Judi loved to eat, how much food drove her passions. The girl was barely 24 and already 300 lbs, so her coworker Steph knew that it wasn't a jump to assume her office-mate would like to hear about the new buffet: the Comfort Food Buffet.
When she first visited she was shocked at the flavor, the price, the selection. It was all far too much to try as much as she wanted to, so Judi found herself lost in a trance of overwhelmed glee, walking confidentially from point to point, filling her plate with piles of food. She hardly touched what she had thrown onto her plate in greedy glee before her belly was so fit to burst.
After then, Judi went back to the Comfort Food Dinner every day after work, making a regular stop of it to replace her dinner. She even started eating smaller lunches to make more room, hoping to fill a little bit more into her belly before she left. Until one day a waitress came to her with a seductive smile and a sweet voice.
"I admire your persistence! You know, if you want to stick around until you make a little room in there," the waitress told her, feeling the cresting dome of the young woman's belly, "you can wait around. We're open until 2am, and I don't mind if you want to get your money's worth, sweetie."
From then on Judi's routine changed a little. She'd go to work at 9, drive to the buffet at 5, and stay until 2 am, using every bit of room in her belly. The weight piled on quickly, these regular trips to load up on greasy meals not unnoticed by her waistline, but Judi persisted, continuing her ravenous ways.
Judi hardly noticed as one day the same waitress came to grab her plates for her, asking what she'd have next, flashing the same charming smile. "Aren't buffets self serve?" Judi asked, confused.
"Normally, but you're such a fantastic customer I can afford to help you out. You look tired, have a rest and I'll get you some burgers. You love burgers don't you?" She cooed, tracing her fingers on Judi's outstretched belly
Delighted and somewhat worried in her stuffed stupor, variably rolling in the remnants of her already prodigious feast, Judi said, "oh, I think I'm full, but thank you."
"Nonsense, I bet you have room for a small plate. I'll just grab it for you, and you can wait if you're not feeling up to it, but I bet you can manage."
"Yeah, I think I can," Judi agreed, believing herself that she could, but wondering if she should. That doubt faded as the platter of hot burgers was dropped before her like a trough of slop.
With nearly nine hours of being served like royalty a day, her weight continued to pile on, but Judi only cared for each bite and each meal, letting the constant worry and guilt fade as it was wrestled out of focus by her greed and appetite. The platters she was brought got bigger over time, and the time between them shrunk, her appetite and body growing in tandem.
She was briefly shaken when her work let her know that her slowness had gotten in the way of her performance, as her weight had made moving files around and gathering things a little too difficult. But in being let go she found out that her weight had made her eligible for disability, as well as the small amount she'd saved from work, which seemed to be collecting well from her investments.
This changed her routine again, so that at 8am every day Judi made her way to the Comfort Food Buffet, and didn't make her way home until 2am that same waking day. Swept in by the seductive gluttony, she hardly noticed the new clothes she was buying, the difficulties of getting down there, needing two seats, overflowing two seats or even how round every other patron seemed to grow. She just sat there, not even thirty, well over double her starting weight and nearly immobilized by her size.
But she still finds time, against her guilt and conscious, for the Comfort Food Buffet.
