Description
<---Prev Next--->Absolutely none of this happened. I wish I could get a Power Wheels box growing up. That shit would be sweet. Instead for toys I had pine needles and shame. True story.

Those things won't be worth much in the future. Trust me, I collected beanie babies.
Anyhow--this is funny--and a little sad.

Economics for dummies:
Those toys will never be worth money, because thousands of collectors keep them in their packaging, thinking they will be worth money someday.

I am soooo glad my parents didn't do that to me. I got Star Trek actions figures and they actually let me open them. It was awesome.

Lol, very good, and look how many similar-situation responses it has gotten I can't say I ever had that happen to me. Then again I didn't like the kind of toys that would have any value later on anyway so I and no-one else cared that I actually played with them. But at the same time my brothers and I were always told to treat our toys with care to make them last, and it worked. Many of my toys lasted years without anything broken, scratched or stained, yet I still played with them. Other kids always had their toys look like crap after that long - they did have stains, scratches, broken or missing parts etc. Some of my fave toys I keep packed away even now, they remind me of my childhood that I don't want to forget, so it's good they're all in good condition still
Then again, I wasn't a good sharer of toys when I was a kid, but I had an excuse - letting another kid play with my toys for one day would wear them down as much as I did in a year. So often I got them back damaged - that is, if I ever got them back at all Toys are meant to be played with but at the same time many kids still need to be told to treat them with care, smashing toys into each other, sliding them through mud etc isn't really appropriate for most

This hits right in the spot xD
I have several MISB Transformers. Some must be at least 15 years old. O_o I'm turning 25 and still not sure if I want them out of their boxes, and I'm affraid if I ever have children I'll be like Zach's dad xD

I have a gigantic plastic bin full of (what are likely no longer) mint-condition packaged Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings action figures...
I'll be 25 in less than a year... But I'm still considering setting those bitches free and making up for years of play when it would have only been mildly disturbing and not outright creepy.
Yay adulthood!

That was batshit insane! Happened to me with those stupid collective dools that my mom told me not to even open, I think. And I had barbies until I was 11 (theyre sold to other kids when i wasnt even around)

my father has this awesome miniature train-thing, a whole attic full of it to be correct... but no-one was ever allowed to play with it...
nice to look at, but toys are seriously meant for playing not for watching

lol I hate when parents do that, they buy shit and are like "OK! NOW DON'T PLAY WITH IT 8D " OK I'LL REMEMBER THAT WHEN YOUR EIGHTY AND NEED DEPENDS! "Now mom, use it through the packaging, it deteriorates the value..."
I find it creepy when people collect children toys. It's weird. Dude, get a life. Toys are meant to be played with. By children. And pedophiles. Anyone willing to pay more than fifteen dollars for a barbie NEEDS HELP. What do they even do once they collect all the non-opened barbies anyway? Open them all up and have some crazy barbie orgy? That's disturbing. Especially because barbies don't have vaginas or nipples so it makes sex very boring. And they always wear underwear, it's like their lower torso is fused with panties. Their boobs are fake too, they don't even MOVE their like solid lumps on their chest like some sort of tumor.

Well that's what I figure most people do when they have barbies! They'd play with them D8 But just having them in packages, I dunno, that's scary

Hmmm I guess I'm kind of the same with my dolls. Those I have in the package and I don't generally take them out unless they do something cool like talk. I just think they look nicer in the package than they would loose and there's little parts that are easy to loose. But all the stuff that lights up and plays sounds, well that stuff I open as soon as I get it! PEW PEW!

Well I kind of look at my collection as an investment so if I ever decide I don't want it anymore I'd like to be able to resell it for close to or more than what I paid. It's kind of necessary to keep things in a certain condition to do that. I know they ARE toys, but when they are old and rare they somehow become something else to me. I love them all the same though :3

For the same reason people pay insane amounts for art and antiquities. Growing value and envy from other like-minded dick-heads. Also, don't think so much about barbies, it's not healthy.

Um. I don't think most collectors even THINK about sex, or the anatomical shortcomings you just described. Talk about who needs help...
Though I've no idea what one WOULD do with a pack of insanely expensive unopened dolls. Find something new to collect, probably.
