Description
(To understand the picture, please read the story- This is a simple children's-book type story, so yes it's kinda lame
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A long time ago, the birds were not of flight, the mice had soared with wings, and cats walked with 4 legs, and had 2 hands. During this time, there was an amber cat, and like the others, he was very greedy and selfish. In his hands, he always carried a bowl of food, and his eyes had glared at anyone who dare come near his prize. The tiny winged-mice had always been around Cat, begging for scraps, but never teasing. Cat did nothing, and continued walking.
It was until one day when Cat had had enough of this game with the mice. He swatted and swatted, and finally caught the little mice. Horrified, the mice begged to be released, but Cat had another idea. He stole each mouse¡¦s pair of wings and kept them for himself. The mice were then cursed to live on the floors of the earth forever. Satisfied, Cat carried on with his new prize.
Along the way, the wingless birds ran by and asked Cat about the colorful wings he was carrying. Without hesitation, Cat proudly told his story. When he finished, the birds started to worship Cat, and sing beautiful songs to him. Cat smiled with much pride, and thought to himself, ¡§I must be a god!¡¨ When the birds had finished their song, they asked politely if they could have the wings. Cat sneered back with greed; it was his prize to keep.
In the morning, Cat woke up to find that the birds had stolen the wings from him. He watched the birds quickly fly away in fear with his prize, and Cat became upset. He slowly lost his will to hoard food and items, and instead wanted revenge on the birds and the mice. He found no more use for his hands, and sacrificed them instead to be quicker and faster to hunt his new prey.
To this day, the cat still hunts down the mice and birds. They have learned what greed and selfishness has done for them, and instead, pays it back by dropping off a dead mouse or bird for someone as a gift. Still, they take pride in what they do; still believing they are godly. Birds flee at the sight of a cat, and mice still try to take their food. Cat has learned a lesson from his own greed and selfishness, but a lesson learned is another question to be asked.
Very nice. The creature looks very personified from the intent expression on it's face. Cute story. The cat looks a bit too scary to be in a children's book, though
That is absolutely ingenius work. I've always been a big fable/children's story lover, and that just really topped off all the ones that were made recently. No really good ones seem to be made lately, but this, I just immediately fell in love with. Not to mention, the picture looks really beautiful as well! The blended colours look really great, especially on the wings, and I'm sorry but I just can't help but to say "Awww!!" about the poor little wingless birds. Hehe. Fantastic job!
The coloring style on this one is great. Love the winged mice, and I've been curious for a while what a 6 legged cat would look like
Clever explanation as to why cats leave "presents" at the back door. ^^
Awesome art! Did you do this with watercolors?
Wow.
I love fables and children's stories. I find them simple yet effective. And the painting (which I assume is watercolor) is very beautiful and fits nicely with the tale for children's books illustrations are almost always made with that medium. An odd story but it made me nostalgic, so I'll fave this. I enjoyed it very much.
PS- I also am sort of indifferent to cats despite my username, but I like many qualities of felines and think they're neat looking.
