Not a dedicated macro lens and i certainly didn't for this shot. This was taken with the boxed 18-55mm lens i got with my camera

I don't really know how to answer that. I just do
I always have the camera set to manual focus. Just experiment with how close to the subject you can actually get.

I used to have to crop them quite heavily. This one did get a crop but it wasn't that major.
I don't like cropping images too much but i don't think it matters really. One of my images with the biggest crops in my gallery has got like 600

I've just been looking at your rose shots and they aren't too bad at all. Just keep experimenting with new ideas is what i suggest. This was by no means my first attempt at trying this and even looking at it now there are things i would change

I have often thought about pro photography but i am still very very new to it all and mainly in an experimental mode. I'm still trying to find myself as a photographer and find what it is i enjoy shooting the most.
