Description
A piece of an epic poster I'll be doing featuring monsters from the game "Dragon's Dogma".
Ogres are a great fight from early to late mid-game, and utilize a mechanic that's underutilized in many RPG's. They're the sub-boss creature that's like the Cyclops in that they pack a great deal of strength, but are nimbler and more unpredictable while also being roughly half the size of the former. Much of their attacks involve swinging their arms in wide arcs in a manner best described as drunken, along with an effective grapple/bite combo and short sweeps of their legs. There aren't any immediate weak points like with many Dogma creatures, though I've heard that their exposed baboon-like behinds is slightly more vulnerable; deal enough damage and they'll curl up, becoming somewhat invulnerable and causing most attacks to bounce off their hide. Eventually they'll enter a rage state where their attacks become more ferocious, they rush at their enemy (which most often is the Arisen), and can deal enough damage to instantly kill any early players caught in their flurry of swings. This is their strategy for all characters, but is far worse for female characters be they pawn or Arisen. When you have a woman in your party, an ogre will become excited and aggro that character, often times grabbing them and taking them away deeper into whatever cave they live in before biting them to death. It's something I both love yet find horrifying, as it's a trait that uses character gender in ways beyond just cosmetic or simply in dialogue.
Don't worry though if this seems unfair to any Arisen who are women. The Dark Arisen DLC also added the stronger Elder Ogre variant, which switches its focus to any male characters. It seems anyone can be chased off by a crazed ogre with enough punching power to rip your head off.

What I don't get is, why didn't Capcom add trolls to the game? Any ideas?

A troll would operate the same as a the Cyclops/ogre (A giant, tanky monster that attacks slowly but deals a large amount of damage). Even if you made them smaller, they'd also be similar to either the hobgoblin, or simply a smaller ogre. The only mechanic that would make it stand out is the troll's petrification if under sunlight, but you'd either have to keep them exclusively indoors (like the ogre) or develop a new mechanic exclusively for them. It's also clear that they couldn't add more monsters in the main game, as you don't get more new monsters until far further into the game, and in the mean-time used different variants of saurens, cyclopses, golems, etc.

Petrification? Given that this is D&D: Human Only Edition, they would have a healing factor.

Ogres are freaky and great! I found it also creepy and interesting that they act differently to a specific gender, the combat and enemies in dragon's dogma are great! Btw I wouldn't think its unfair, it just makes things more interesting.
