Description

4/1/15: I finally catch the CSX switching move of the remnants of the 16th Street industrial branch of the former B&OCT. GP15T 1506 picks up 5 covered hoppers from the last industry, Hickman & Williams & Co. Specialty Carbon Resources, the last vestige of this once bustling industrial area of north Cicero, IL.

Here the consist is about to cross Laramie Avenue.

Very nice catch, I've always been a fan of the EMD Units, so is this unit pulling something or is it on it's own?

It has 5 covered hoppers you can see the consist in the next pic... Thanks for the compliment! EMD rules!

Excuse me Eyepilot, but I can't comprehend: altough I've seen the next pic with the 5 covered hoppers, in this picture, judging by the shadow, it seems that the locomotive is on its own.

Maybe is something like an optical illusion?

Sorry for my english

Time of day maybe, around noon... not much shadow?

Cool, and it's very rare to find a decent EMD prowling the Rails nowadays, isn't it?

Too true! Except for yard power it is... Railfanning the other day I only caught one EMD on the BNSF, an ACe.

Possibly one of my best Catches was a EMD MP15 pulling a 10 Car Train through my hometown, but I couldn't tell if it was a AC or a DC.

Yeah, but if I had to pick a Modern Diesel that's still in use today, it would be, what I call the Monster of the 90's, the SD70 series from EMD.

SD70s... for sure! From standard cabs to MACs and ACes!

Yeah man all that's missing is a F Unit, like they did with the SD40's.

I wish I was taking pix at the end of F unit use in the late 70s!

I think some Rail Companies like CSX still use F40's.
