I think I painted this in September 2005. I have a horrible sense of time!It's a board I broke in Taekwondo (which I sucked at and thus no longer practice) and... birdies!!
Ink and reeeally crappy watercolors (fact: they are not supposed to last 10+ years).

Man, that looks a LOT like all the boards I broke in taekwondo XD I would really like to pick that up again. The composition and presentation of this is amazing, I really like the way you sort of combined concepts with this too, and the idea of painting on textured wood is very appealing to me. The delicate way you did those birds is gorgeous, too, not to mention the splash of blue is very well incorporated.

I think this is beautiful. I love how you seamlessly incorporated the knot in the wood into the painting, as well as the crack. It gives it a really natural feel. My favorite part, though, are the black blotches. It's very gestural and gives the whole piece a very liquid, smooth feeling. And it contrasts nicely with the detail of the birds. Again, very, very beautiful.

the darkened circle reminds me of a molecule of some sort trying to enter a cell membrane.
