Ex-WASP turned boxer Doris "Dutchess" Caldwell (fav.me/dc46nfq , fav.me/dcds1cc ) takes on April North from the Popeye cartoon "Never Kick A Woman". This was an experiment in drawing April, who I kind of like even though she's a bully...April: "You broken-nosed little tramp, look what you've done to my face! I'll bet I look nearly as bad as you do!"
Doris: "Hey, April, how about you do less talking, and we do more fighting, huh?"
April: "Oh, you think you're cute, Caldwell? When I'm done with you, that'll be the LAST word anyone will ever use to describe you!!"
Doris: "I heard that Max Fleischer dumped your contract - he must've gotten sick of listening to you!"
April: "Before Pearl Harbor, I was the most feared contender in the division - if it wasn't for the war, I would've been the champion by '43. Now I'm fighting six and eight rounders against mouthy little nobodies in tank towns. That's right, girlie, I'm stuck fighting no talents like you because of that son of a bitch Hitler and his Axis pals!!"
Doris: "Gee, that's a shame - I hope you don't take it the wrong way when I knock your block off!"

I think she fits in pretty well with the alternate 1930's-1940's timeline that Doris Caldwell and my other 1940's boxers exist in - considering that April first appears in 1936, then I think by the post WWII era, around 1947-48, she's possibly getting a bit past her prime as a boxer, but still a recognizable name, who's "...fighting six and eight rounders against mouthy little nobodies in tank towns"... with these younger "little nobodies" able to give her a pretty good fight...
