Description
11"x15" Acrylic painting on watercolor paper. July 2007This started out as an exercise and evolved into one of my most personal works. I was starting to paint a sunset with the silhouette of a bare tree and got caught up in thinking about trees and faith.
I was wondering why a tree didn't give up in its first winter. It must've been so cold and felt as though it was dying. How did it know spring would ever come or that its leaves would return? And with each stripping and freezing, would it be harder or easier for it to believe life and warmth would come again?
I have a lot to learn from trees.
This is a metaphorical painting of the faith of a tree.
