Try using a tissue paper for large areas.. Layer with an HB pencil lightly then smudge

i have used 3B for the sides of the face, so to get it smooth should i use HB over it and then blend?

Yeah... you can just use a tissue paper over it, or lift graphite from really dark areas that you want to lighten (kneaded eraser)

I use a kneaded eraser but lifting graphite from darker areas will be very time consuming process right? I am a bit impatient when it comes to drawing colored pencils dont have this kind of problems though.! So when drawing graphite i should spend more time i guess

Luckily i dont have that problem I dont know why but i somehow end up in the right color
