I was looking at the Dinoriders for inspiration for the 'non Dinoforce' shells the other day.......Let's be honest, the toys were crap weren't they?? I know that a fair bit of time has passed but they have not aged at all well. I found some stuff I might reference but the lack of detail on most of the toys leaves a lot to the imagination.

Well, not so much the physical toys, but the box art and the cartoon. We lived in the 80's man, before CG and computers and all that... we had to use our imaginations.

What got me were the weapons......they were just plastic tubes really.

I've tried to make their pretender shells a bit more like the way we see dinosaurs now, rather than the 80s style dinosaurs that the original shells were....so Swiftwing here has quite a wingspan, Slashback the stegosaurus doesn't have little stumpy legs and Sawtooth the T Rex is bipedal rather than the 'tripod' that Grimlock was.
That said though....anything you notice that isn't quite right and you'll let me know, right??

Iknow what you mean....I don't want to be too contraversial!! I'll me having dark greens and browns and the odd brightly coloured one too, just to keep everyon happy!! the thing I want to avoid is the obvious stuff, like having them dragging their tails along the ground. (I assume that it is widely agreed that they held them aloft for balance?)
When I do my Dinosaur versions of my Dinobots I'll go the same way I think......Sludge's tail will be a fair bit longer than his 'stumpy' G1 toy version.
On the subject of changing opinions on how dinosaurs look....are you aware of this place??

It's a load of concrete sculptures of how a Victorian scientist thought dinos looked. A lot has changed since!
