Biggest one yet!I thought it would be fun to introduce horror-characters that are more exclusive to literature, as opposed to the ones that have had their stories adapted to film numerous times.
Though it doesn't completely hold up, 'The Monk' by Matthew Gregory Lewis is still a real blast for the not-so-squeamish horrorfans. I especially love the angry mobscenes. Lewis really knows how to get the blood pumping with those.
Along with 'The Mysteries of Udolpho' and 'The Castle of Otranto', 'The Monk' is definitely a must-read for anyone who wants to look into the origins of the Gothic genre.
The character 'Ambrosio' was created by Matthew Gregory Lewis.
The character 'Erik' was created by Gaston Leroux.
