As Gothels prisinor (i doubt they could ever get back to mother daughter) she would "die" in the meaning of that she would never get to really "live" again.

It took me couple of viewings of Tangled to figure out what Eugene ment by Rapunzel dying if she went with Gothel. Now I exactly know what Eugene means now. He ment if Rapunzel goes with Gothel that her spirt, love of life will die. Not that she die physically but emotionally. Dying emotionally and spirtly is just as bad as dying physically.
Eugene was right about what he said, cause Rapunzel would die. Rapunzel would be so unhappy and depressed and probably after a time would give up on living. She knew she would never have the life she deserves and needs and after time would give up. If she gave up and did did dye so would Gothel because if Rapunzel dies, the magic of her hair would to.

I espicaly love that update on Eugene catches Rapunzel in the closet! That was funny but quite rommantic! I wonder how they ( you know) in the closet? I hope it was big closet is all I'm gonna say.

Oh that's okay, I do to mistype. I type alot on my iPhone and iPad and sometimes I acdentaly send the replay before I finnsh or screws up and it sends anyways. So no big deal.
Anyhow I'm glad you agree with my replay about what Eugene said to Rapunzel. I know everybody has differnt oppion,but that's what I think Eugene ment by Rapunzel dying. I watched Tangled a lot since it been out,and each time I watch it,I get a better understanding on what's going on. So what I said about Eugene's words to Rapunzel,is what I see. I love the movie the way it is and I wouldn't change a thing about it. I think what Eugene said to Rapunzel was sweet though it was sad. You could tell that he loved and cared a lot about her and didn't want to see anything bad happen to her. If it did,I know he never be able to forgive or live with his self. Eugene sure made a big change in movie didn't he?

I really love him a lot! He not like your typical prince you see in the other movies. To me Eugene is more realistic then early on princes. Besides Eugene I like Naveen and John Smith. All three are my favorites. I like each of them in thier own way and to me they are more realistic then the ones before them. Most of the princes espically the classic ones are too boring and practly have no personlity. They are too perfect and in that way they are not real. Eugene,Naveen and John are more like real men you see today. Each one has thier own flaw so no they are not perfect, but to me that what makes then enquie. They each have to over come obbsticles in order to win thier princesses hearts.

Well I know before Tangled came out John was my most favorite. Now since Tangled out Eugene is my favorite and John close behind him. They both are almost at tie cause I'm nuts about both! Of course Naveen right behind them.

Yeah I love him too,he quite a character! I love his voice and accent! No other prince has an accent then Naveen! Lot other Disney fans thinks its annoying but I don't as I love him just the way he is. You know I tend use his words like achdanza and fadi falonza a lot. I hope you know what those words he says means. I got a ultimate guide to the Disney Princess plus ultimate guide to The Princess and the Frog and Tangled. Anyhow in those guides except Tangled explains what those words that Naveen says means. If you don't know what they mean I can tell you.

Um... Was it not obvious that he did not LITERALLY mean "die"? More like "you will be as good as dead". He heard Rapunzel promise Gothel that they would be together forever. It's as good as dead.
But still pretty funny! Methaphors make awesome jokes if you decide to get snarky. Like, play to take them literally. And I loved your expressions.

I love this, I thought the same thing when I heard this line. I think that there was something else Gothel was going to do to Rapunzel, but it may have been too dark and they changed it, and forgot to change that ONE line.

I suspect that from Eugene's POV he is seeing Gothel killing everyone related to the hair. The Stabbington brothers were in jail to be hanged and so was he. He sees Gothel as someone on a killing spree and Rapunzel would be the culmination of it. He didn't know Gothel needed the hair to live.
