Description
Hey guys! It's time to show you another part of my Patapolis. Believe it or not, the very first concept for this place came to me during the last days of Summer 2018, and I completed it only during Easter 2019, the same day I went watching "Avengers: Endgame". Since I already decided a precise release schedule, this piece got delayed (and yeah, I wrote this a year ago. Now, we're even past Easter 2020. Great, Fabi).
"A land where enormous columns and domed temples stand out of everything else, bathed in the sunlight. A thick fog covers the entire place, surrounding the building in an unnatural glow. The otherwise calm atmosphere is interrupted only by white-hot lapilli erupting from strange mountains. What secrets lie hidden deep inside the the Dongara Ruins, where the temples borders the Melala Volcanoes?
That's what the Almighty Patapon often asked Meden, but even her vast knowledge had its limits: she only recalled some myths handed down by the Ancient Patapons, who visited this place many times during their Golden Age of Conquest. Their legends mentioned a magic process, known as the "Holy Infusion" to enhance certain objects in order to create mystical artifacts for an unknown purpose... and of course, the secrets behind this bonding process were lost without leaving traces. - It was you, Fabierex, the one who led the Ancient Patapons to that place. - claimed Meden, but for some reason the Golden God's memories of that particular period were fuzzy. A good reason to venture again into this land and take it under the Three Tribes control.
It wasn't easy, of course: there was a reason behind this place's secrecy. The Goruden Tribe had to face the land's guardians, Dogonga and Fenicchi, and also took care of some Bonedeths troops found spotting the area. Once they faced those obstacles, the Patapons reached a valley with two big temples: one of them almost completely in ruin, the other one surprisingly well preserved.
The first one was composed by three altars that seemed partially destroyed; a closer inspection revealed that a huge explosion might have occurred in the past, explaining the huge cap in the roof and the devastation of what was considered a "fire altar".
The second temple was completely deserted, with no tools left, only the structure itself remained. Its architecture appeared to be a mix of the Sky Castle Amattera and the Pata-Pole Place, almost as if it had been built by both the Gods and the Patapons. Its original purpose still remains unclear, although the Patapons soon learned to make use of it."
The Forge is usually full of people: soldiers back from a fight against a boss, heroes in search of a new weapon to slay a powerful foe, and old grizzly generals training young warriors. Although a bit distant from Patapolis, its strategic importance made it one of the most guarded and populated lands of the Three Tribes, effectively becoming a new small colony.
- The Lava Smithery: this area and the roof above it were completely blown up by an explosion that occurred ages before the Patapons found the Forge again. Who knows what really happened... a disaster caused by a dangerous experiment? An attack by an unknown enemy? Whatever the case, it's impossible to determine what was placed in that empty place. Still, the altar itself seems to be connected to the central furnace, providing an additional source of heat.
Ton Kampon decided to transform it into a small but functional workplace, equipped with a furnace, an anvil and some storage for the newly forged equipment. He intended it to be a school where his young apprentices can practice their skills.
- The Ice Pool: the liquids that fill this pool are originated from the Ice Lake Kochikachi, a source of untouched frozen waters. The Tsukupon Brothers remarked the unnatural complexity and length of the underground pipe system, and they begged to be put in charge of its reactivation. Took them some time to fully understand and repair the machinery, but their work allowed the waters to flow once again!
Their icy properties are far superior than the normal water used in common forges, resulting in a faster cooling process and a stronger toughness of the alloy immersed in these waters.
This altar also offers a support to store some weapons.
- The Divine Hammers: controlled by ancient mechanical gears, these two hammers swing in unison to compress the incandescent metal. Better not leave your hand in the air for too long, if you don't want to find yourself without an arm. Ton Kampon insists it's the best way to train the newly appointed blacksmiths, but it's widely suspected he does this just to scare his apprentices. Oh, and they pass the test most of the times.
Behind the hammers it's situated a big furnace directly connected to the magma of the Melala Volcanoes. The heat radiating from it is more than capable of melting even the toughest minerals, and it's great to smelt broken weapons or useless equipment retrieved from the battlefields! It also works just fine for cooking Patapons who work around it for too long, but that may be an unwanted feature.
- The Stress Roof: Gong, being a strategic person, deemed useful to use the roof as both a testing room for the new weapons and a training ground for the Heroes he tries to discipline. It offers a great view and a slightly stressful environment to fight in, at least for an inexperienced warrior. As the generals say, it's important to learn to fight in close spaces.
- The Heaven Chapel: a mysterious temple, untouched by the ravages of time. Kon Kimpon noticed that the stone was incredibly smooth to the touch, its surface reflective, and there were no cracks whatsoever in its ancient structure. The roof is full of carved stars that emit an otherworldly blue glow. Whoever walks in feels a strangely welcoming presence all around them, inspiring a sense of protection; that may explain why so many Patapons like to sleep inside. Meden theorized that the temple was built in honor of an ancient deity that still resided within it and still remains loyal to the Patapons and their allies.
Except for its beautiful appearance, at first this building seemed suitable only as a large weapon storage. But, at the sunset, a lonely guard noticed that the blue glow intensified, and he curiously entered the temple. Once inside, he witnessed what was later recognized as the "Holy Infusion", the forgotten bonding process thought lost by everyone! During the night the equipment was imbued with the temple's energies, acquiring the same blue glow and divine properties extremely useful against creatures from the Underworld, as Fabierex' Army soon discovered.
As surprised guards discovered, this land is also a natural dimensional nexus: it's not uncommon for a portal to pop out of nowhere, bringing each time a strange artifact or a warrior from another universe. This random events demanded a defensive strategy of some sort, which is why Geito was once again charged with the responsibility of protecting the Forge. He doesn't mind.
This work is also an homage to my friends characters and art, from which I always learn something new. This is for you! Let's see if each one of you finds one of their OCs or one of their artifacts! A week from now, I'll leave their credits in the description!

Hey, sorry for my late reply! I'm so happy to see you like my work! I'm always glad when people notice the little details that might seem a bit out of place, like Kratos for example (I thought he fits among the bloodthirsty Patapons).
And you noticed that staff, uh? I guess you've been on DeviantArt for quite some time then...
I'll make sure to add details like these in my new pieces

Hi Topi! I'm so happy to see that you like this scene so much! I had alot of fun filling the background with particulars, weapons and Patalons, so seeing all these compliments warms my heart! π
In my world this was the very first visit of Topaz, but I'm sure we'll see more of her! Some Patapons tried to steal her Staff, but Fabierex quickly gave it back of course!

Hey Jantics! It means so much to me that you appreciated my lore entry, took me some time and effort to come up with something interesting! And finally, someone who mentions the easter eggs (not the Patapon Fandom ones, I mean), I think I'll put some more in my next works! π
