this picture reminds me of a russa movie for children
it was about a young girl who was send to the forest in winter to find flowers, if she would not found those flowers the prinses would take of her head of and her family to
so the girl was in the forest and did something i think she helpt a animal and the forest guardians came to her and made a part of the forest to summer when it was winter and the girl took the flowers and gived them to the prinsses

I've been waiting for this doorway for a long time - glad to see someone gets to see it

I think I've seen an animation of this story as a kid. A girl is sent into the forest by her step-mother, because the mean and childish queen ruling the land has demanded someone bring her a basket of spring flowers, even though it's midwinter. In the forest the girl meets people, who turn out to be the twelve month of the year, and they help her.
The colors and the contrasts between the wintery foreground and the spring beyond the doorway are lovely.
