Picture made as an example of my digital work for MidWest Furfest. The one good print of it was given toTongue-in-cheek picture about the situation true anthros would be in if they existed. Sentience hunts sentience.

Do you think that if anthros really were real they would hunt each other as their predecessors did? (assuming that if anthros were real that's what their predecessors did XD)

Humans hunt each other all the time, though not for food (unless you count cannibalism). There's slavery, war, sieges. I don't think anthros would be much different, it's a romantic idea to assume they'd be so highly civilized as to never indulge in more primitive practices.

very good point, didn't think of it that way. would you see anthro eating anthro as cannibilism? I just wonder how, maybe on another planet, multiple sentient species (and if DA's anthro community had their way, hundreds of species) could arise together.

Nice, thought provoking, very pretty with pleasant smoothed and bristley strokes. I'd like to see how they'd fair against a herd of bison anthros.

They're not stupid, they're running away (like any intelligent creature surrounded by hungry beasties would). Plus, they've got pointy antlers.

So the deer have antlers, but the wolves have pointy teeth and claws for weapons, so why do they need spears? Wouldn't the picture make more sense if the deer had weapons too and were fighting off the wolves as they ran? That was just my first reaction to the pic. It doesn't make too much sense to me. If I was just going to make a bunch of deer run from an anthro wolf pack...I wouldn't even bother making the deer anthros. What's the point of being an anthro deer if you can't make cool weapons and kill your enemies?

While I appreciate the in depth analysis of the logic behind my picture (so few of my watchers do), I must point out the audience would sympathize less with the deer if they were engaged in active battle with the wolves. It's meant to turn the pseudo-druidic view of wolves as noble creatures above humanity in every way (as some extreme misanthropic furs believe) on its head, posing the wolves as the aggressors. It's the wolves who are the focus, the deer may be anthropomorphized and sentient (possibly having their own culture and history) but rather than provide an illustration of a battle, this is an abstraction of a thought. Thus I can bend logic however I desire and multiple intrepretations of the scene unfold (such as your own interpretation). Not every piece of art must be illustrative, or even representational. Illustration is the current convention amongst furry artists, I seek to break it and thus stand out.

A pleasure meeting you as well. I only wish I'd gotten a chance to meet Hibbary, Kyoht, and Goldenwolf as well, but you get so absorbed in finishing conbadge commissions you never want to leave the table. It's always great to see some of your favorite artists' work up close in real life; the computer's presentation of real media or large pictures leaves something to be desired.
