Commission for Falseprophet (on FA) of their anthro ferret character.

This was a lot of fun to do, working with the Cintiq makes digital art much more similar to traditional, especially being able to pick up the device and rotate it around at my convenience. It's especially handy when creating lineart; while my Wacom tablet is great for pretty much everything else, the disconnect between eye and hand is painfully obvious and irritating whenever I attempt lineart with it. The only convincing way I could accompish a smooth, natural line was by using the pen tool and creating an artificial line with it. While the pen tool works wonders and the results can be fantastic, my preference is always to apply effects by hand and not with Photoshop shortcuts. It's not a purist thing, but rather my subconscious bias to more tangible methods of image creation. With the Cintiq, I don't have to use a pen tool to get a straight line, in fact I can deviate from the usual super-smooth lineart of the pen tool and add a little more character to each stroke. It also make normally tedious parts of working the illustration more engaging. It's been a good investment and I'm happy with the affect it's had on my work thus far.
