Reveille meets his distant relative, a souped-up Onychodus! Check out those gnarly teeth!!The actual Onychodus doesn't have fins QUITE that splayed out, "whiskers" or rows of thorns around its head, but fantasy creatures deserve fantastic relatives.
Onychodus is actually a lobefin, and thus more closely related to fish like the Coelacanth than rayfinned fish like carp (which inspired the Asian lung mythos). But part of the point is a little artistic license, so choosing a related branch rather than a literal ancestor for the sake of coolness is acceptable to me (so long as I'm not claiming his great great great grandpa was a shark, that is).
