Description
Standing the Test of Time - 12" x 18" - August 2012 - WatercolourHere she is - my completed painting!! I am so UTTERLY thrilled with this painting, and have entered it into the CSPWC's Open Water Watercolour competition - keep your fingers crossed for me!!
This painting features one of three African elephants (Iringa, 42, Toka, 41, or Thika, 31) from the Toronto Zoo. I've only ever visited this zoo once, with a dear friend, back in 2009, when my photo reference was taken, and didn't know of their fate until recently when I was researching on the net, trying to gather a little more information on which one I had painted. I hope all three 'stand the test of time' with their impending move.

Wow, that's really amazing ._. I love your use of colors in the skin (ESPECIALLY the fact that the elephant isn't even minutely gray ) The details throughout are so meticulously placed... I wish I could paint like this. Kudos!

Wonderful! I thought that it is oil color, not watercolor, it is a beautiful use of watercolor.

Oh my... WOW! The level of detail and colour in that it absolutely stunning - also, I know it's not the focus of the piece, but I seriously love the background and the blending of the colours, they're really, really pretty.
I'll stop waxing lyrical, but I will say that the level of vibrancy to the colours is fantastic and the depth of the background is really cool. Very, very good job!
