What's the Buzz? (Tell me what's a Happening)12" x 18" - Watercolour - August 2011
This is something I started way back in May and kept tossing it aside because of other things on the go. When I finally got back to it, I panicked because there was frisket applied in certain areas, and I was worried that when removing it, it would tear the paper. Fortunately it did not. Unfortunately though, it yellowed the paper where it was applied. I was able to apply colour to most of the areas so that it was not so noticeable in the areas where no paint was used (the whiskers)! Ack! Anyway, I am so happy that I finished the painting, and am really happy with the results. I think I might be painting a few more cats in the days ahead!
Thanks for looking!

You are so good with textures and reflections.
Friskit can be pretty intimidating!

Thank you so much! Yes, friskit can be very intimidating... I don't really like it much at all, but thought it might make my life easier on this one... If I had removed it right away (within a week instead of waiting 2 months) I would have had better results. I have certainly learnt my lesson!

I just used some today and failed at it. I have the problem of it not coming off right.

Hm... That's not good. Are you using one of those rubber erasers to get it off? That should do the trick. Even after leaving it on for nearly two months, on this painting, it still came off relatively easily. What is the consistency of the frisket that you are using? If it is really thick, you may have to work a little longer on it. But, see... another reason to avoid the stuff!

Well, it comes off. It's just annoying in the process. I usually use an eraser, and it peels of nicely. But lately it's been giving me trouble.
