Say hello to Adaptus Prime!!... this one probably requires further explanation.Adaptus is once again one of the Thirteen. Functionally he fills the role of both Adaptus and Amalgamous, hence his design being a fusion of the two (and I gave Logos Prime a look for good measure).
The second design is a bit more out of left field. My idea for what happens to Adaptus is that he takes his followers (adaptusians, shifters, something like that) and starts his own colony. Under normal circumstances they wouldn't have turned out THAT different, but the shapeshifting and mercurial nature of the group meant that they evolved dramatically and became far more alien in appearance than other former Cybertronians. This is essentially my excuse to use the more alien movie designs in a way that I think is cool. With that in mind it made sense to me that an evolved/powered version of Adaptus would resemble the Dynasty of the Primes, and this is what I ended up with.

You know, the Thirteen were originally said to be the first Transformer(S), plural. And yet, with the Aligned Continuity, they've flat out changed it so that Amalgamous Prime/Adaptus was the first Transformer period, while the other members of the Thirteen didn't? Then what's the deal with Onyx and being the first beast-former?

A couple key early members of the 13 were never conveyed to have any kid of transformative abilities to be fair. My feeling is that most of them had no shape changing abilities, I may even go so far as to say not even Onyx to start with as he's usually depicted more as being a beast-humanoid mash up.
So yeah, my standing right now is that at the start shape shifting was exclusively an Aduptus thing, that he passed down a version of to the Cybertronian race. And if I went down a route similar to Aligned it's not even a gift anyone would even know about until the Quintessons came along.

And one thing I've noticed in recent years is that most fictional depictions of the TFs tend to just call themselves Cybertronians/(colony world name) instead of Transformers, with the latter term being implied as an invented term for them by humans, and that's if it's brought up at all. In the past, the term "Transformers" was something the TFs called themselves. I mean, the franchise is called "Transformers" and now they're removing its usage in-universe. That just feels off to me.

It seems largely a result of story telling shifts. Being referred to as Transformers does make sense but for it to be what they instinctively call themselves, it varies based on how the world and story have been written, and largely how much interaction they've had with non-transforming species.

Makes sense, pretty much all the Primes in the bayverse look pretty similar, I didn't use the Fallen as influence but most people wouldn't know the difference without looking REALLY hard.
