Description

OK I GOT A LOT OF TOPICS AND IDEAS TO COVER SO EVERYONE GET READY.

IT MIGHT BE KIND OF ALL OVER THE PLACE SO IMMA MARK MY POINTS HERE.

1. The Grotto is BEAUTIFUL.

I mean like really, really pretty and i love how spacious it is, and stopping to appreciate it was nice and helpful to my brain.

2. The pool in the center.

Now is that just like, another scrying pool or something?

But like not the actual pool of visions?

Because literally every other moment in the game besides these two cutscenes, the room with the PoV looks hella small and way different than the Grotto.

The little stairs that lead up to where Spyro's egg was is also gone so to my mind it's just another pool or is for something else, maybe for meditation.

3. OK so Cynder's egg wasn't BLACK black (but in my head canon it's solid black), and in the second Grotto cutscene all the eggs kind of looked relatively the same, but a friend and i already discussed if there was gonna be an air dragon with an egg that dark, it would have to be melanistic anyway because genetics.

So i still don't buy into the air dragon idea, but to each their own and i will admit the drawings people do of her being white look really dope.

4. I know DAMN WELL that Ignitus did NOT lose by flopping onto his stomach and just laying there, all right in my head it was an epic fight scene to get that last egg.

~~The Fight~~

Ignitus returns, abhorred to see his companions unconscious and all the eggs smashed.

Yes he dives and slips, yes the apes cheer, but he GETS BACK UP AND CHASES THAT COMMANDER.

I see him chasing him through the Temple and catching him by the leg just as they're getting out the door.

Ignitus pulls the ape in and chomps into his neck.

BAM, KILLS EM DEAD.

But before the ape dies he tosses the egg and another ape catches it before hopping on a dreadwing.

At that time every other ape that was there is boarding the animals and starting to fly off, and the one carrying Cynder's egg starts to fly off.

Ignitus scrambles to his feet and tries to fly after the dreadwing, but after only being in the air for a few seconds another ape swoops by on his animal and clubs the Fire Guardian, knocking him out cold.

This way he is unable to follow them, as are the others.

Ignitus is the last to wake up and be faced with the ruin of the Grotto, and deal with the major loss.

He will also have to tell the others that the apes succeeded in taking an egg.

5. I imagine all the baby dragons were buried in graves marked by small stones a good distance from the Temple, somewhere safe and peaceful.

There was a funeral.

6. I actually love this scene. That sounds sick but hear me out; it's dark. It's real, it's painful, it's bitter. And the way the Guardians are shown lying unconscious, mouths agape, is very well done.

That burning sensation of innocence being taken, guilt, and the appearance of chaos is felt very strongly if you're invested emotionally in this trilogy.

And even if you're not, hot damn, that is dark.

Unborn dragons, all technically aborted days -- hell for some, hours before being ready to hatch.

Unfortunately even though they were so close, they needed just a little more time to finish developing.

I can also imagine with all those big, floppy stupid ape feet stamping everywhere and smashing the eggs and running over them, many were probably crushed to death and suffered serious injury that only further assured their deaths.

7. The commander picking up Cynder's egg and shaking it and listening to it before deciding "oh, yeah this one's good" is hysterical.

8. In my head canon there were 30 dragon eggs total consisting of fire, earth, water, ice, air and electric dragons. Each Guardian would primarily train one or two types.

Ignitus: Fire, Magma, Purple

Terrador: Earth, Water

Cyril: Ice, Air

Volteer: Electric (occasionally Air)

The number of each eggs were as follows:

Fire: 5

Earth: 5

Water: 5

Ice: 5

Air: 4

Electricity: 4

Magma: 1

Purple: 1

I'm done now, expect further elaboration because i'm rotten compost

The fact that these baby dragons didn't even get a chance at life is heartwrenching. Those Apes are not careful at all.

I actually wrote a fic once about a scene kind of like this; a parent rushing to the Temple to try and save their egg, only to find the place quiet and empty, and full of very tiny versions of the crystals you get in the game when you kill an enemy...

Oh, it gets darker...here's the story, if thou art curious... Lasair's Grief"I'm still a little worried about the eggs, since we heard the news about Malefor.."
"Rest assured, Kindle, the eggs will be safe here in the temple under my watch."
"Malefor's forces are far too occupied to the north to be of any real threat to the nursery anyway, right?"
"Yes, that is true. His forces are so far we would have time to move the eggs if we were to sense any coming danger."
***
The small group of dragons flew through the night sky towards the pillar of smoke that was their beacon. The warning had come in the dead of night; the Electricity Guardian falling from the skies above Warfang with the warning that the Temple was being besieged by Malefor's forces.
Lasair was one of the many dragons who had taken to the skies in the first few moments - many of them were dragonesses with clutches at the Temple. He had not even paused to tell his mate, Kindle, of the sudden attack; his only thought had been to reach the Temple and ensure that her eggs...their eggs were safe.

1. Yeah that Grotto and the Temple in General are very beautiful!

2. Ignitus said that there are certain few dragons with abilities like him that can see visions from the Scrying Pool, I wonder if there are some dragons with other unique abilities outside of elemental powers?

4. I like your head cannon version of the battleΒ

5-6. Those poor baby dragons, I understand why in the game they don't linger on the part that all the other eggs were smashed but why you think about it there were a bunch of young dragons who never had a chance to live It's painful, bitter, and part of why I like the TLoS series.

7. I wonder what he heard that made him decide that THIS was the right Egg.

8. I would like to see you make your own head canon chart of the TLoS elements.Β

Also thank you!

I definitely understand why they didn't stick on it too long X">

No Problem

I think it would be up your alley, "Wings of Fire" is a book series about a world of Dragons. There are 7 known different kingdoms of dragon breeds:
- Skywings: They are the quintessential red fire-breathing dragons, they have the hottest fire and live on high peaks

-Icewings: White spiky ice dragons with hook-like claws for grip living in the mountains, they have a deadly frost breath

-Seawings: Amphibious marine dragons with webbed toes and bioluminescent marks along their body, they can breath underwater indefinitely
Β
-Sandwings: Mostly sandy colored desert dwelling dragons that have a poisonous barb on the end of their tail like a scorpion

-Mudwings: Swamp dwelling dragons with a bigger muscular build and tougher armor, they can heal in mud and in rare cases are completley resistant to fireΒ

-Rainwings: Peaceful rainforest dwelling dragons, they are able to change colors like a chameleon, don't like to get involved in conflicts, and they are not known to have a breath power

-Nightwings: They are mysterious black dragons with wings like the night sky, they live in a hidden kingdom and are believed to have weird powers like mind reading, foresight, and are able to completley disappear in the shadows

(No Spoilers) The story revolves around a world war between the dragon kingdoms, the Sandwing Queen was killed before choosing her heir between her 3 daughters so they started to fight among themselves and then got their allies involved in a seemingly endless war for the throne of the Sandwing Kingdom, the only kingdoms not involved are the Nightwings because of there secretive nature and the Rainwings because they didn't want to get involved and the other Dragon kingdoms are terribly racist against the Rainwings.Β
One day a Nightwing showed up with a prophecy about 5 young dragon champions will choose the true queen of the Sandwings and end the war. To most dragons they were relieved to hear the war would come to the end, others had become so numb to war and death and couldn't care if the war ends or not, and the 3 Queens don't what anyone else to choose their destiny but themselves so those who support the prophecy are considered traitors.Β
The Talons of Peace form as a rebel group against the 3 armies to ensure that the prophecy comes true and keep the 5 dragons of prophecy secret in a cave till they are trained for battle because everyone assumes that they are supposed to be great warriors.

- Clay the Mudwing is the big guy of the group, his teachers expected him to have the killer instincts of a monster, all brute force and fury but he's actually just a big softy who can't muster up any anger or intent to hurt anybody. Because he's a Mudwing he's also constantly dismissed as stupid by his teachers but he gets some clever ideas.

- Tsunami the Seawing is the leader of the group and a pretty good fighter but she's rebellious and constantly undermines her teachers trying to form escape plans to leave the Talons and find her parents because they were all taken from their homes as eggs like she read a story about a princess finding her way home.

- Starflight the Nightwing is the smart guy of the group who the teachers and the Nightwing who foretold the prophecy want to be the leader of the group but he's not brave, not very good at fighting, and he can't read minds or see future visions.

-Sunny the Sandwing is a precious cinnamon roll who's too pure for battle, she is the runt of the group, instead of being sand colored like most sandwings she is bright golden-yellow and she lacks a stinger on her tail. She's completley a pacifist, just wants to be friends with everyone, and gets excited over little things.

-Glory the Rainwing was not even supposed to be part of the group but on the night their eggs were taken the Talons of Peace operative who was supposed to get the Skywing egg was caught and killed and the egg smashed to prevent the prophecy from coming true so as a last minute fix they stole Glory's egg. Even though Glory is the hardest working of the group the teachers still treat her like crap and call her a "Dumb Lazy Rainwing"

That's about all I can tell you without spoiling the first book

I like the XD implying it’s not like you are actually hating on me,but I don’t watch either so I don’t really know much. Those stuff still are for kids but they do have a periphery demographic.Even then it’s easier to enjoy games, movies, cartoons and stuff easily findable on the Internet than books you need to find yourself and risk judgment.

I'm only a year younger than you then, it doesn't really matter how old you get, a good book is still a good book. Don't feel ashamed if it's "intended audience" is children especially if it helps children learn adult lessons like about discrimination.

β€œWhen I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty, I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.” C.S Lewis The Author of the Chronicles of Narnia series.

You are right, also this is a beautiful quote.I play games like Skylanders Giants,Super Mario Odyssey,I am myself a Spyro fan and a pegasister without shame so finding child books that remind me a lot of Age of Fire is not a problem,I will rent them not buy them to not weird out my parents.Even then, I once read Warrior Cats for a while and it was really dark.

Man, I really do love your headcanonΒ  and lore-crafting when you get down to it. The amount of thought you put into it, and the alternative scenes you craft suggests a real good amount of story potential, for if you ever did turn your hand to writing. So, yeah, once again, great job.

Well Ignitus at the start says "I should've hidden them long before but i thought we were ready, i thought they were safe." Basically Ignitus underestimated the armies and Gaul's forces, they did have a hiding place evidently but Iggy chose not to use it because he thought everything would be fine. :/
