WOO! i've kept this one a secret for some time now this is Khrypt, a melanoid version of a head cannon species of dragon for TLoS!!!

  ~~Dewdrops~~

Khrypt belongs to a species called dewdrops, which get their name because they are venomous and can secrete drops of poison from the skin on their tails, saliva and the palms of their hands ;D they also can breathe poisonous fumes, either hot or chilled to effect the strength of the gas. Each dragon has a specific blend and tint of color in their poison, with variations of green being the most common.

Yes, their breath actually is glittery. It's meant to look pretty and alluring, which can sometimes draw in prey or even confuse them. the potency of the breath depends on the temperature it's released in. If it's cold, it will only make the opponent sleepy or groggy. If it's hot, it can be deadly to any who inhale it. Except for other dewdrops of course, because dewdrops are impervious to most anything venomous.

The breath itself actually glows, and so does the secreted poison drops! This is caused by bioluminescence, which these dragons can achieve for themselves by eating fruits, veggies, or any animal that has bioluminescent qualities. But why does it glow?

Dewdrops like their "creations" to glow because it attracts prey. In fact, they can even create patterns out of it, weaving it between trees like a large, luminous spider web with built-in dewdrops. The more bioluminescent things they consume, the better their work will glow. Eventually, after about 8 hours the glow fades, but the drops are strong and will remain there until it gets torn down. But should the dragon wish to keep it glowing, they need only breathe a little poison gas on it to re-stimulate the chemicals in the dew to make it glow again.

As you can imagine, this stuff has the strength and consistency of a spider web, only stronger. When someone walks into it, well...it's going to stick to them unless they wash it off or roll in something. The dewdrops themselves, however, can brush against it without getting stuck, so long as their skin is secreting a very light oil that makes them appear very glossy and keeps them from getting ensnared by their own creations. they can control this, too.

For courting purposes, this species tends to breed only with other dewdrops. When two find they like each other, after a while the topic of being together and eventually mating comes up. Well, males only earn the right to mate by putting on a dazzling light show with their venom drops by hanging them off of things and trying to appeal to the female's taste. If she isn't impressed, then there's no lovin'. But if she likes it enough, the male has earned her trust for the rest of their marital lives. Females can easily tell when the male is just trying to get sex or if they really put their heart and soul into their display. If there's no heart, there's no love making, and the male doesn't get to try again for another MONTH!

These creatures have amazing abilities, no doubt, but there is a downside; their skin is remarkably soft and pleasant to touch, which means they're very physically vulnerable. This is why this type hides more than fights, using their wit and tactical cleverness to succeed in disputes. In a war, they would HAVE to be laced with strong armor, because their skin is much easier to penetrate than other dragons of a tougher species like earth, fire, etc.

Dewdrops are diurnal...and nocturnal. They only need three hours of sleep each day to stay fueled! So they can get a lot done in 24 hours. But this means they POWER sleep so they make sure to be well hidden when they sleep to avoid being attacked, as they aren't light sleepers by any means.
They're social by day, HIGHLY social by dusk, and antisocial through the night (unless they have a mate and a male is displaying). Then they often crash for three hours and awaken around dawn or a little while after.

Dewdrops can be found mostly in places where there are dark swamps, forests, marshes, or anywhere that has a large population of bioluminescent creatures and plant life.

These dragons are arboreal, meaning they love to climb and are excellent at it. This is why they each have two elongated wing thumbs for grasping and holding on to bark, rock, and other vertical objects. They also have strong prehensile tails with a split end for extra support, and can hang by their tales without it hurting them. Also note that they have five finger bones in their wings instead of four, a sign that they may be descendants of the air dragon species.

Khrypt is a melanistic dewdrop born in the Shattered Vale, which, in my head cannon, is primarily an earth dragon kingdom with a high functioning community. Other dragons live there as well, but it's mostly air dragons and other "stray" species. There is dense, lush forestation and jungle-like areas surrounding the island which are bordered out by gorgeous beaches -- perfect conditions for the dewdrops. a LOT of luminous creatures live here, and Khrypt takes a heavy advantage of it.

I have yet to decide what became of her parents, so that will eventually be updated.

Because she has melanism, she's all black except for her purple head crest. Now she may have a purple shine, but that's because of her skin oils. She honestly is just a solid one color........which is BLACK. SUPER...BLACK...blacker than Cynder, even. Now most dewdrops are multiple colors, but she is not. Males tend to be drawn to females who "look different", and Khrypt is very unique. For years, boys have chased her, but she's turned them all away. Even earth and air dragons from the central community have asked her out! But she's picky, and wants more from someone than just a compliment on her "rich dark hide." But this isn't out of the ordinary; females of this species are notoriously picky as it is, which is why usually only males breed with other species should they find females of the species aren't attracted to them.

Khrypt is funny, picky, creative, loves to run and fly, and enjoys jewelry! she is wearing horn rings, wing thumb rings, and three tail rings. They're purple and gold to accentuate herself, as it matches her scales and her poison. She's also stubborn, yet can be very caring. Also, the inside of her mouth is blue!! BRIGHT blue. Often the insides of the mouth match the venom
