Since i ever first heard this song, i thought of Raven.

I always imagined her people singing this to her, but like in some kind of dream more or less.

It just felt fitting, kind of one of those music-videos-in-my-head things some of us do when we listen to songs.

I sat in the spot where my swing set used to be in my back yard today, told the neighbor's tree this was pretty much it.

I used to spend hours in the evening, from the sunny midday until dusk -- even dark if i was fortunate enough, swinging, singing and fantasizing when i was little.

Fantasizing about Teen Titans usually, hah.

Meanwhile our field neighbor would be mowing or working or doing whatever, always promptly ignoring me and not interacting with me, or even acknowledging my existence.

For a wood-working hermit who spends most of his days burning stuff and driving trucks all over the field, that was probably the best choice, lmao.

I appreciated that he pretended i wasn't there.

I was the kid who would twist the swing while swinging on it, turning from left to right or twisting up a bunch of times, only to unwind and spin around like crazy.

My parents tried to make me not do that because it could break the swing chains (and it did happen once, it hurt my butt when i fell. It still didn't stop me when we got a new seat).

I have to go now, i have to go to a new place, because this is how life is.

Where i'm going is darker in appearance, but may have benefits i'm yet unaware of.

I don't know what the future holds, but at least unlike Raven, i don't have to hold in my feelings.

At least, not all the time.

        I love you, little house on Salem Lane.
