I liked the Scavengers. Overall they might have been an unnecessary detour in the plot and the level went on a bit too long, but I liked them.
Weren't the blundertails based on the scorpion things in the previous game as well? Oh right the scurvywing. . basically a subspecies to the other bat things. The name escapes me right now, but I hated fighting those.
The world of TLoS was a rather rich and detailed experience. There's so much more that can be touched on, but they never for to due to limited time and money. (and technical restraints, this was the PS2 era) I remember seeing little rat things in Dante's Freezer. And that giant turtle monster was shown to us in the first flying level. I believe there's some other creatures that didn't' make it into the game either.
What I like most with the creatures is that they're fairly original.
I think your fursona is pretty cool. I haven't looked into her too much yet, but I'm guessing she's a canine?
I'm assuming the Scavengers were all dog things. Not sure what. I'll probably take another look at the concept art and wiki for TLoS one of these days.

I did notice many things that didn't get touched on and i'm ok with them not taking the side creatures all the way, but their involvement definitely made the game more rich and alove

She's a fox from a secluded island called Barbada, and in my head canon the Scavengers are dogs.
She became a Scavenger, but soon felt she didn't like that, so she ran away and accidentally ended up in Concurrent Skies and became a servant to Cynder (willingly).
Then she realized that was wrong and that she was mixed in with some serious evil, left, rescued her future mate, then after Cynder was brought down from power she started her own crew, the FreeFlyers, and the crew is slowly growing.
She's lived one hell of a life

The originality is a big reason why I hated the falcon in DotD. It's one thing if they were just in the background but they weren't. They were a part of the plot. You're telling me the sentient reptilian bat birds exist in the same universe as normal FALCONS?? Not buying it.
And that Yin/Yang symbol Hunter wears? What? How does that even exist?? Way to break my emersion! . . . well it's less noticeable than Sparx's dialogue at least.
Like "We're not in Kansas anymore". . why did they write that . .

Oh, that's pretty cool. Fits in the Spyro verse rather well. It isn't too edgy either, which is a good thing because a person can only stand so many "tragic backsories". Epically since their personalities rarely match said "tragic" tale.

I was ok with the Kansas line and as for the Yin and Yang, that is a concept i can imagine would span over many universes, but i do wish it was portrayed with some type of flare or difference
