Hey everyone!
If you recognize this piece, it’s because you’ve seen it before. The original, entitled Blizzard, was a shoddy interpretation of the same story. Upon posting my final iteration (formerly a lumen), I realized I could have conveyed stronger emotion and form. I had, for many months now, thought of an animal subject emerging from a great blizzard. I owed it to myself to create something worthy of my pride.
Windswept began with a myriad of wolf references, and a greater volume of tea. Whisked away on another grand journey, by the frantic and often clumsy process that allows me to create art, I crafted a body and expression more befitting the story.
A wolf prowls through a snowstorm. Hairs twist in the wind, snow clots on its fur, and the cold biting into its flesh. Yet it endures, unbeholden to the great force of nature.
I thought I finished Windswept on January 17th, and was excited to post it the following day. Life had other plans. My common-law partner of nearly six years came home and broke up with me that night. Within twenty minutes, the entirety of my life was set upon a different path. A journey only I could walk, fraught with hardship and pains never before had I imagined.
And yet I endure, unbeholden to the great force of nature.
