I let them grow out about 2-3 inches and then cut them off.

Mine were nice and clean, I just had one that was really messed up in the back that was irreversible, otherwise id probably still have them.

Nice dreads, why'd ya get rid of 'em? Not surprised though, I've had mine for for months and they're a pain in the ass to take care of in the beginning, especially seeing as I have bone-straight hair (doesn't dread easily.)

I had to get rid of them because my cousin offered to do it but then just as we had 2-3 left her bf called so she tried to finish them as fast as she could. In doing so she just mashed 2 dreads into one so I had one big dread sticking out the back and it got all messed up after a few months.

LOL Well dreadlocks can actually be pretty clean you just have to do them right. I backcombed mine and used Hemp beeswax (Greasy and gross if you use too much LOL)

I've heard they're clean, but my hair's so damned straight I doubt it'd work with my hair.

yeah you'd need a dread perm before you got it done. I have a slight curl in my hair and I still had some problems.
