Derwent graphic pencils, HB,B,3B,6B&8B, on A3 Winsor & Newton smooth paper.Here is another one of Richard Calmes ' dancers. I've been very fortunate to receive permission from this amazing dance photographer to use his photo www.pbase.com/rcalmes/image/14… as a reference for this drawing.

A combination of things: a nice smooth paper or card seems pretty important, different grades of graphite and practice with how they blend (of course!
