I cant friggin believe how good this is.
I also find it hard to accept that the worst game in the franchise has the greatest villain, and THAT was his only appearance.

I'm honestly sort of disappointed that he wasn't the Time Eater in Generations. That would have explained what Crisis City is doing there,(Despite being erased from reality,)would have fit the aesthetics of the Time Eater, and would have allowed for so much potential in general. Plus, who better for Sonic to fight on his 20th Anniversary than the source of his worst game? That would have been meta.

I understand them wanting to make Eggman the villain again in the series, and I love seeing both of them in action at once. But they really couldn't have fit Meph into the plot somewhere?

Yeah, or done something with cutscenes after every level. Besides, they could have EASILY poked fun at Crisis City and had Sonic say something about not remembering anything about Crisis City, since 06 never technically happened.
