Hi! Umm, you don't know me, that I know of...
I'm Mark! (Thus the Markopolio)
I've decided I'd like to start making models.
I really have no idea where to start...
It seems that most artists here use one of a few programs for their rendering. So I'd like to cater to them in particular. DAZ, Poser, and Vue.
I'm getting a basic understanding of OBJ, MAT, PZ2,
CR2... The problem is, that I've reached the limit of the DAZ/Wings3D combination, without resorting to bottles of aspirin for the headaches.
Do you have any suggestions on where I can go from here? What programs are available for targetting morphs, shaders... Creating props, characters, mats? Something that can export both the Poser/DAZ file formats, and the Vue formats?
I know this is forward of me. But my renderer friends are really no help here.

sorry for the super late reply... if you still haven't found any program.. search in youtube for '3ds Max' software and tutorials

you can either get 3sdmax, maya, etc. as your modelling software. file transfer with your modelling software to vue or poser is not really a problem when dealing with OBJs. coz i think vue and daz is more of scene arrangements as well as poser. not really sure about daz coz i haven't really seen it.

DAZ is just free Poser, pared down a bit. I downloaded Blender, for the time being. Think I should bother learning it? Because I will eventually want to include morphs, etc. Is 3dsMax worth having? Maya seems to get good reviews from posers, not designers, anyway.
I made a crayon...

Umm... It's 4000 dollars... Everything I have computer-wise doesn't cost that much, both systems. You wouldn't happen to have a second, or maybe third choice???

Someone suggested Cinema4D and Interposer Pro. While I'm checking, I'll see about Houdini and Truespace both! Thanks!

Interposer is supposed to be some kind of universal 3D file translator. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find it yet.
Truespace looks great! K-3D is another Blender-type program I found. I'll learn the one that works for me, and between the three, I've pretty much got all the file types covered.
I really can't thank you enough. You've been so very patient and helpful.
