Any tips on software to play with to generate patterns and fractals?

I've been playing with the old Livebrush recently, which has an interesting fractal nerves brush.

Neuronal entanglement, which means bundles of communication. Looks like the Reticular Formation which is the battery of the nervous system; which makes the perpendicular fibers look like the lightning of thought. If I disreguard the perpendiculars; then it looks like mountains and their crevaces.

The background gradiant brings out the different shades of gray.

Totally awesome, Jonas; and it's in my favorites.
