I had to keep myself dropping a F-Bomb just for the heck of it. It's very tempting to devolve into vulgarities but let's not make it gratuitous. Also it felt fitting to give Roxy and Marion one last appearance before the end of the year : artistic OCs and all that, I don't think it looks too silly and the message IS the same. It's also to show my stance on the subject in case I never made myself clear.
Would it have been better suited to use the actual pic that's been shared from Art Station to Instagram to DA? Probably. Here's an eloquent argument against the use of AI !

I am a bit torn. As a tool, Artificial Intelligence could make boring tasks much easier. But no, some fucking piece of work had to go and decide "the artistic process is such a chore, why don't I train the machine to do the labor it takes years and passion for everyday people to hone their craft and reduce it to just a minute". Does it make for hilarious results with their twisted mangled hands and barely human-looking faces? Absolutely, but once the joke is done and the machine is better at hiding its disadvantages, you find yourself in front of some pieces that have the quality of a painting someone spent days labouring over thanks to Midjourney being a little more advanced. Sure, you'll see things that just betray it if you look close enough : a weird blur here, some odd particles floating over there, a face that looks a little too foggy for the crisp environment. And I'm not talking about the AI art generators that get memed a lot where it looks like different pictures mashed together and barely baked. You'll see Youtubers making a living off giving art advices saying how it's not a big deal, how artists are not going to lose their job over some hacks going on Dall.E or whatever it's called. Yet all I see on DA are people getting fooled, and praising the colors, oh, how the textures look so nice, what beautiful backgrounds and characters those are! I'm not saying art-theft wouldn't exist without AI, it does, but AI makes the line more and more blurry. It's not just someone picking up a drawing, cropping the signature out and claiming it as their own : it's an amalgam of creatives' hard work being thrown in a blender and sold out. It's somebody else's texture. It's someone else's colors. A real person made that background and these characters don't belong to the empty void of space.

Say what you will about an artist drawing a shitty hand (like the ones I make), at least the artist drew the shitty hand and will learn from it. Maybe the AI generator will eventually learn how many fingers humans have and manage to make them look decent, but what about the hack just typing the prompt? They'll learn jack-squat and still proclaim the work as their own all the same. There's no gain out of that and I'm not optimistic enough to believe it won't escalate further if we just shrug it off.
